Neuroblastoma Awareness - Hope for the Cure

Hi, my name is Jessica Morley!

I was diagnosed with stage IV neuroblastoma on 4/10/91.

I am now 18 (5/9/90) and very blessed to say that I have been cancer-free for nearly 16 years!  I was treated with chemo, radiation, and surgery, but I am thankful that I have not developed any significant side effects from my treatment other than Horner Syndrome.

If you are visiting this webpage, my prayer is that you will be comforted knowing that there are indeed long-term SURVIVORS of neuroblastoma!  Remember that there is always HOPE, and that MIRACLES HAPPEN!

"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."   - 1 Peter 5:7

"Everything is possible for him who believes."  - Mark 9:23

In June I graduated from Kennedy High School in Seattle, Washington, and I am now headed off to Gonzaga University!  I am very excited to start a new adventure and to discover a bit more of God's plan for me.  I love volleyball and tennis, and I'm very involved in Relay for Life and volunteering on the oncology floor of Seattle Children's Hospital where I received my treatments.  Right now I am considering studying psychology to become a Child Life Specialist.  Feel free to email me at jessicamm1@hotmail.com

On September 21, 2007 my angel, Gloria Strauss, was called home to Heaven.  She was an eleven-year old girl who battled neuroblastoma for four and a half years with the faith of a saint and with strength far beyond her years.  She will forever remain a miracle, a glittering star.

Her journey was recorded in a 5-month series in the Seattle Times.  You may read the articles, look at pictures, and listen to her audio recordings by clicking on the link below:

A unique organization called Gloria's Angels has been created in honor of Gloria to help other families struggling with an illness.

Mission: Gloria's Angels seeks to lift burdens and build communities so people can focus on caring for a family member with a life-threatening condition.  To learn more about Gloria's Angels, please visit www.gloriasangels.org.

  Gloria's Prayer

Said by her for all of us

September 12, 2007

"Dear Jesus, you have risen, you rose from the dead.  I ask right now that you raise all of us, not only me but you raise me up and out of this body in a clear and new way so I am pure, without cancer, so that my body is completely…pure…and clear.  So I've risen out of this completely…God…, but I entirely rise out of it.  Not just me, but all of us, that we all rise, rise out in a new, fresh way.

For any sickness of problems we've had or for any bad things we've done or for any new things we need to do.  I just ask that you lift us all out of our bodies and you give us the strength to get down on our knees.

Dear Jesus I ask that you hold each one of us in mind right now.  Our bodies hold them tight and squeeze them hard right around their shoulders so they can feel it."

                                              Amen.
