Review by R. deVoll Fisher, Cheers E-zine - March 2006
R. deVoll Fisher is the author of Caleb’s Branch

Jerry Minchew takes on a well-established genre and scores a blockbuster hit with his volatile new novel. Knighthawke has all the excitement and action packed adventure of the sensational graphic novels from the heydays of the 1950’s, and yet Minchew creates a totally new hero whose greatest source of power and strengths are his own sense of purpose and personal character.

Minchew has scored an uncontestable knockout with this powerful novel of personal tragedy and international intrigue about a dynamic character whose superhuman powers are but one facet of a very human individual with deeply emotional issues. Knighthawke has all the riveting drama and intensity of a suspense novel with the added thrill of possible alien sentience and paranormal overtones. This is a deeply engrossing story with enough gung-ho, testosterone driven excitement to satisfy the most macho leatherneck, while eliciting the reader’s most compassionate sympathies by presenting a deeply reflective insight into the emotionally scarred psyche of a very believable victim of a heinous crime

Jerry Minchew’s Knighthawke is a terrific tale that delivers a super one-two punch with enough excitement and spectacular surprises to capture the reader’s attention from its sensational beginning until it’s dramatic ending. Wonderfully entertaining, Knighthawke is a real triumph and future work by this author should be eagerly anticipated.

“My wife Alice and I both read Knighthawke and were impressed with the intricate weaving of science fiction and humanity shown in the character development. I would encourage you to continue with your efforts in the literary field as there [are] precious few original works out there that appeal to readers on so many different levels. Michael is a very human hero with real vulnerabilities, which add layer upon layer of depth to his character. I look forward to the next installment in the series.”

“I noticed quiet a few Christian themes in your book, very interesting the way they were introduced. I look forward to the upcoming titles for this character. Thanks for writing a quality work such as this.”

“Thought the book was interesting … I was satisfied with the content of the book, not a bad first attempt at writing professionally.”

KNIGHTHAWKE by Jerry Minchew is a fascinating tale within a tale. Not only must the hero Michael Webber deal with his newfound abilities, but he must also satisfy his cravings to learn the origins of his birth. As the two stories are woven together, Mr. Minchew shares with the reader his first-hand knowledge of the military.  The author’s expertise at providing those details which make KNIGHTHAWKE an exciting blend of the real and the extraordinary should catch the attention of the sci fi reader and mystery buff alike. The action is well paced, the characters are fully dimensional, and the storyline is imaginative; one can only wonder what innovative adventures lay ahead for Michael Webber in the sequel. Congratulations on a novel well done Jerry Minchew!

My Review of Knighthawke

Knighthawke by Jerry Minchew is a great book.  I liked it very much and was amazed at the outstanding writing ability of the author.

According to the Synopsis of KNIGHTHAWKE "it is a blend of suspense, action, adventure, mystery, humor, history, romance and science fiction." It was all of that and more, WOW!  I was not disappointed. This was a wonderful blend and an outstanding read.

I started reading the book and by the time I got to page two I was hooked.  I found, as I went through the book, that I became more interested and anxious to read the next page. This is a great story written by a great author and I am glad I decided to read Knighthawke. This book was even better than I expected.

Knighthawke covers a time period of between 1952 - 1975 and it is the first in a three book series. I will be glad when the other two books in the series come out as Knighthawke made me want to read more of this authors writing.

I will recommend this book to anyone looking for a good book to read. I hope Knighthawke is made into a movie. I know I would go to see it.

Book Review

Mystery, intrigue, suspense all describes Knighthawke written by author Jerry Minchew.  Knighthawke is a fictional story about a young man kidnapped shortly after birth and brought up by the couple that kidnapped him and the foster family who took him in. The events that transpire in Michael Webber’s life will keep you turning the pages as each event unfolds and adds to the suspense of the book.  Jerry Minchew has written an incredible book; one that I am sure will spur other books in the same series.   The characters are believable and the plot is well thought out.  If you enjoy reading books that you will not be able to put down then Knighthawke is the book for you.

 FROM READERS LIKE YOU

What a fun read! The plot is a fascinating story and it is well thought out. It is exciting and it has enough unexpected twists to keep you on the edge of your seat. After a few pages, you identify with Michael as if you have known him for years. And then everything changes! Michael's new "gifts" kick in and he is like nothing you have ever known.

Knighthawke has pathos about Michael's search for his past, drama and romance, and then there is the science fiction that surprises you. And an end leaves you wanting more! Minchew's military background gives the story great insights and perspective.

For an old colonel that has spent tours in Intel and special ops and who loves sci fi, it is about all one could ask for. I can hardly wait for the sequel.

I thought that Knighthawke was an excellent read. It kept my interest with every turn of the page. It is definitely one for the collection. The sequel is highly anticipated and sure to bring as much excitement as its predecessor. This is a literary career to follow closely.

What I liked most about KNIGHTHAWKE is that it was full of different styles. There was action and adventure, romance with love gained and then lost, and some science fiction all rolled into one.  I was kept on an emotional rollercoaster throughout reading KNIGHTHAWKE.  One minute I was laughing and in the next chapter I was saddened then in the next chapter I was excited.  That to me is what makes a good novel.  I found that I could hardly put the book down in anticipation of what was going to happen next. I also enjoyed that, even though as a reader, I didn't know what was going to happen next I knew what Michael was so desperately trying to achieve and although he was so close on many occasions to achieving his goal, he was blind to it.  The ending was left in such a way that I can't wait until the next installment of what I hope to be many more novels with KNIGHTHAWKE as the main character.
Chris Newhouse

First of all I loved the book, couldn't put it down, the first day I had it I read 3/4 of it. It kept me excited as to what would happen next. I only had one problem with the ending: it left me frustrated that he hasn't got the second one ready yet.
Jonathan Geary

That was totally unfair to end "Knighthawke" that way!  Not nice at all!  I loved it!  I hope that it goes to #1 on the bestseller list.  It's the best book I've read so far this year, and believe me, I've read several.  I really enjoyed it.  It was over far too soon (I finished it in 3 1/2 - 4 hours).

I had the pleasure of previewing Knighthawke. This book is a great read, well written with believable characters. It's a tale that just about everybody can identify with and enjoy. Michael Webber, the lead character, is an ordinary man who finds himself in extraordinary circumstances. These circumstances kept me glued to this book till the end. I certainly hope there is a sequel!
Steve Patterson, an avid reader

Knighthawke is an excellent adventure novel and a book that is written so that all audiences can read it.  Minchew's style is different than any other action novel I've read.  You will not be able to guess what the next chapter will contain.  I have read many adventure novels; this book is one of the best.  I hope Jerry continues this story in a sequel.

Our worst nightmare, the loss of a child, is where this story begins.  All because the selfish Jake and Lisa could have no child of their own.  A baby boy is taken at gunpoint, his twin sister longs to know the boy in her dreams, parents doing ALL they can to find their son.  This suspenseful tale of loss and love will leave you begging for more stories of heart, perseverance, and inspiration by Jerry Minchew.

 Sheila Fuqua

I just finished reading Knighthawke, and I have to say, it's a great story! The characters are very interesting and well-written. You get to know them so well that you can predict what they'll do. The pace is very good, leaving you no chance for boredom, and the descriptions are easy to visualize. I'm the type of reader that sees the action in my head like I'm watching a movie, and this story kept me glued to my seat. Can't wait for the rest of the story!
Dave Freeman

I just finished reading the book!!  WOWWW!!!!  It was great!!! It was hard to put down!!  I love it!!  The ending was good too, now my question is.... when does the next book come out?!!  Thank you for writing such a wonderful book that had no profanity!! AWESOME!!!!

Judy Lyons

Great Book!

I really enjoyed reading this book!  It has a wonderful mix of military excitement (like a Tom Clancy book), a small dose of Science-fiction, and a lot of real-life human struggle.  Because of this mix the book will appeal to a wide array of readers.  I can’t wait for the next installment!
