The Emmy predictions of 2004 were that Sex And The City ''will and should win the award for Outstanding series'' but Emmy s don't give such a big award two times.
Emmy predictions 04 from www.allalias.com/forums/index site were:
OUTSTANDING COMEDY SERIES
Sex and the City' will take this win easily. Because it is their last chance for recognition by the academy, this one-other-time Oustanding Comedy Series winner will get the farewell they deserve. In a far second is Fox's hilarious comedy 'Arrested Development.' If 'Sex' gets snubbed the award, look for 'Arrested' to be the one who steals it from them.
OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES:
With Sex and the City no longer in the running after this awards show, I believe they'll award one final goodbye to the likeable Sarah Jessica Parker. Bonnie Hunt *may* pull ahead to a surprise win, but don't count on it. Aniston has already basked in her glory along with Heaton. The underrated Kaczmarek may also take the gold, this being her fifth nomination with no wins, but I'm sticking to Parker for now.

Best Comedy Series:
Well, in a year that saw the end of perennial nominees “Friends” and “Frasier” exit stage left, with neither up for the granddaddy of comedy series trophies, and since “Everybody Loves Raymond” will still have another year to compete, this category is surprisingly tough to predict. The best odds go to the gals of “Sex and the City”, and all of their happy endings, and good for them, but seriously
Will Win: “Sex and the City”
Best Actress Comedy:
This one I think is an easy one to pick, considering the Academy has yet to reward Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw, and will no longer get the opportunity to after tonight. Is it the best performance of the bunch? Better than Patricia Heaton, Jennifer Aniston, Bonnie Hunt, and Jane Kaczmarek? Well, yes, and despite those terribly annoying Gap ads (where SJP looks slightly, only slightly, more feminine than Lenny Kravitz), Parker is a class act all the way.
Will and Should Win: Sarah Jessica Parker
Best Supporting Actress Comedy:
Let’s start with this category just to get it out of the way, because it is the weakest of the night. Instead of nominating Cheryl Hines of “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, or the good-enough-to-win Jessica Walter of “Arrested Development”, we’re stuck with the three supporting ladies of “Sex and the City”, the boring antics of “Will & Grace’s” Megan Mullally, and the likable, previous winner, Doris Roberts from “Everybody Loves Raymond”, who basically gives the same performance every season. Of the ‘Sex’ girls, I always liked Miranda the best, just because she was the most realistic of Carrie’s friends, so in a vote of sympathy, it should go to her, but everybody loves Marie, except Frank, but he doesn’t count here, so expect a repeat.Should Win: Cynthia Nixon

I think this is really a race between Sex and Arrested D.I am going with Sex and the City
Outstanding Lead Actress, Comedy Series
>> Sarah Jessica Parker, Sex & the City, "An American Girl In Paris Part Deux"
Pro: 50 minutes of pure bliss as far as I’m concerned. Not too many laughs, but she is so adorable and she’s in 80% of the episode. Her scenes with Big make up for the drama with Patrovsky.
Con: As stated above, a bit light on the laughs.
Chances: I think this is hers to lose. She is a real charmer in this episode, and is very very likeable. I think it’s time.
Final prediction: (1) Parker
winner & comments
Sarah Jessica Parker - Thank You God - it finally happened, with her best ever epsiode submission - she really is a class act, and I was thrilled with this win.
Outstanding Supporting Actress, Comedy Series
>> Kim Cattrall, Sex and the City, "Out of the Frying Pan," "An American Girl In Paris Part Une"
Pro: Great choices. In “Out…”, she has some great scenes, and is not as vulgar as in previous choices. The episode is balanced in terms of the four ladies, but it seems to revolve around Samantha’s cancer. “Une” is dynamite – she plays a secondary role to SJP who is the major focus of this episode (well, duh), but she is fantastic in her scenes.
Chances: Methinks we have a frontrunner.
>> Kristin Davis, Sex and the City, "Hop, Skip and a Week," "Splat!"
Pro: In the first episode, some cute scenes, a few laughs, and a nice final scene with Harry. The second: what was she thinking? Her dog has puppies. That’s it.
>> Cynthia Nixon, Sex and the City, "One," "Ick Factor"
Pro: In “One”, Cynthia has some great anxiety schtick, and her scenes with Eigenberg are tops. The more serious actress out of the S&TC girls, her material is good, but not great.
Chances: She is in the middle of the pack. For pure laughs, Kim Cattrall has this hands down, but her material is more weighty.
Final prediction: (1) Cattrall; (2) Nixon; (5) Davis
winner & comments
Cynthia Nixon - OK, so my number 2 choice won - I am thirlled that it was at leats a Sex lady - and what a gloroius speech (if I could hear it over Mr Margolis' obnoxious Nazi-like playing-off of each and every winner bar Pacino). Another great farewell to a character we'll always remember.
Outstanding Directing, Comedy Series
I personally thought the
sex episode was one of the best directed of the year (of any genre). I am going out on a limb and predicting
Sex and the City
