The actress,who 'made Blahnik iconic'(Vanity Fair) and named one of the best-dressed of the year by Vanity Fair,Vogue and People,recently spoke to New York Magazine about the possibility that her fashion line Bitten will need a new home. SJP sells Bitten at Steve & Barry�s but it looks like Steve and Barry's is having a little trouble during this economic crisis.Rumor has it the company has filed bankruptcy several times in the last couple of months. On her possible homelessness, SJP told the mag: "We have a lot of home offers,We have to make sure that any partner we enter into an agreement with wants the same thing for the brand as we do, which is to serve the customer first. You know, it can�t be about commerce, it has to be about the customer, and we have to see who�s really willing to be that generous. Now, more than ever, people need all things that are about economy, So I want very much to continue it in the right way. So we just have to figure out what�s right for the customer, and how to do it in these economic times.�

Most of Bittens Items are under $20.00. The style icon(CFDA Special Award Winner) has also been known to wear Bitten on the red carpet.We hope Bitten finds a new home fast.

SJP remains Bitten!

Steve & Barry's, the Port Washington-based retailer known for its swift rise, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this week, blaming its financial difficulties on volatile credit markets, the general economic downturn and consumers cutting back on discretionary purchases. The filing will allow them to remain in business while they reorganize and pay debts.
Some analysts, however, say that Steve & Barry's business model was flawed, relying on tiny profit margins and real estate incentives that ultimately couldn't balance the company's operating costs and celebrity licensing fees.So maybe that was the unfair ending of 'Bitten'..(newsday.com)

Financially troubled retailer Steve & Barry’s said that BHY S&B Holdings, a newly formed affiliate of investment firms Bay Harbour Management and York Capital Management, was the winning bidder for the company at a court auction hearing in New York on Wednesday.

The bid of $168 million “to acquire certain assets” of Steve & Barry’s is subject to court approval, but is expected to be completed on Aug. 25. Steve & Barry’s filed for Chapter 11 protection in July.

Under the terms of the purchase agreement, “The majority of Steve & Barry’s 276 stores will continue to serve customers,” per the company. However, the fate of numerous stores in the process of being opened or built, including a new flagship store in New York, was not revealed but likely will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

In addition to acquiring merchandise inventories and transfer rights to Steve & Barry’s store leases, BHY S&B Holdings, New York, “will acquire all Steve & Barry’s intellectual property rights, including its celebrity and brand licenses, and the company’s key facilities, including its Port Washington, N.Y., headquarters, Columbus, Ohio distribution center and certain overseas offices.”

Among the investors in BH S&B Holdings are Steve Shore and Barry Prevor, who co-founded Steve & Barry’s in 1988. The two childhood friends from Long Island, N.Y., initially found success by licensing college and university logos and selling T-shirts and all other items at under $10. In 2006 the company unveiled Starbury basketball shoes, via a deal with NBA player Stephon Marbury, which sold for $14.98. That was followed by a clothing and accessories lines from actress Sarah Jessica Parker called Bitten and an EleVen line from tennis star Venus Williams.

Parker will remain with Steve & Barry’s under its new ownership, at least for the time being, as the company released a statement from her that said, in part, “I am very proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish with the Bitten brand . . . I’m very pleased that Steve & Barry’s will be able to continue to deliver on that mission and look forward to continuing our strong partnership.” Williams also appears to still be aligned with the company as she has worn items from her self-designed EleVen line at Wimbledon and during the Olympics in Beijing. She also is pictured in EleVen wear in ads for the U.S. Tennis Open, which begins on Aug. 25 in New York.(sarahjparker)

SJP continued her Bitten Tour at Mt. Prospect Mall in Chicago on Friday.'' Even after years of having to smile for the cameras, SJP looks genuinely happy to greet her fans at the autograph session. Judging from her many expressions at the event it looks like she had no problem getting animated with everyone who came out to see her promote her line. On Monday, I met up with Sarah Jessica Parker at Steve & Barry’s in Herald Square, where she recently brought out her clothing label Bitten. It was around 1 p.m., and the line for the checkout was very long, as it has been since the first day. We stood near the back of the store and gradually we were surrounded by a lot of shoppers, cell-phone cameras raised in that weird salute, and occasionally people interrupted to ask Parker when the sailor pants were due to arrive (in about two weeks) or just to say they liked the clothes. Parker had on a pair of Bitten ankle-zip jeans and a green T-shirt. We were joined by Andy Todd, the president of the company, and Howard Schacter, its chief partnership officer. Steve & Barry’s is a private company, so it doesn’t release sales figures, but Todd said, “We blew away our projections. It’s been beyond ridiculous.” A number of blogs have expressed disappointment with the label and the idea. One said it’s the sort of thing that Carrie Bradshaw and her “Sex and the City” friends would have mocked. My own feelings about the label are that the basics are solid, especially the jeans and the striped T-shirts and cropped hoodies, but that it needed more surprise. That may come with time.

SJP: What was most satisfying to me on the opening day was to see the preponderance of plus-size women and women of color. That’s what made me cry, and I’m not being treacle-y about it. People may have been disdainful about our clothes—well, it’s not for them. They have access. They have the financial or the geographical access to clothes. This is simple American sportswear, and we made the decision to size from 0 to 22, from 5 to 11 in shoe sizes.

What resonated for us on the first day is that women really got the point we were trying to make—which is you should have access to well-made, affordable clothes regardless of your size or where you live. It’s not this rarefied thing. Are we trying to do couture and red-carpet, to be Narciso Rodriguez and Nicolas Ghesquiere, for 20 bucks? Absolutely not.

SJP's clothing line Bitten  is featured in the July issue of OPRAH's O magazine, on stands June 19."They're inspired by a lot of women and they're very simple," Sarah Jessica says of the designs. "There may or may not be some assumptions about the trend of the clothes and that they may be fashion-forward and reflect the character I played on 'Sex and the City' for so long, but that's not our desire, because that's a much more specific and unique way of dressing and it fits far fewer people. We really wanted to create a line of American sportswear that's really well-made and affordable and fits a variety of lifestyles."/ "There's a lot of really simple stuff that I love that was inspired by pieces I have at home."
/Sarah Jessica adds that she's not only the face of the label but is also a part of the design team: "[I'm] up to my neck involved!"

Even though Sarah Jessica is keeping herself busy with Bitten, she says she's more than ready for the big-screen version of "Sex and the City."
"I'm not being cagey for once in saying it might happen," she says. "As far as I know all the actresses would love to be together again and do this movie."
But she knows it will take a lot of work for it to happen. "This is a very complicated puzzle to put back," she says. "We have to replicate sets that are gone, re-create apartments and everybody has to feel good about why they're there."
And although Sarah Jessica hasn't seen a script yet, she feels positive about it. "I'm hopeful and very excited about the idea of it," she says.

You've been offered design jobs before. Why take this one, for a budget chain?
It always seemed very unsavory to ponder a real design job. I don't sketch. I don't know how to sew. But I am acutely aware of what it means to not have the things you need, let alone the things you want. And you should be able to have affordable, quality fashion.
Every piece from your line is less than $20 � but if a woman's going to splurge on one item, what should it be?
I tend to be someone who splurges on shoes. I know a lot of people splurge on decorative jackets, but I don't because I don't look good in them. I've got too much hair, and I don't know how to pull it up myself to get it out of the way of the jacket!
What did you learn, style-wise, from being on Sex and the City?
That there shouldn't be rules! I always believed in hard-core aesthetic rules � "No white after Labor Day." And I matched, because I thought that was ladylike. I matched my clothes my whole life � at least until [costume designer] Pat Field got ahold of me!

As we told you yesterday Sarah is launching her own clothing line called Bitten. Well yesterday she previewed it to an exclusive group of editors during two luncheons she hosted at Indochine. Sarah said about the clothing line: “Women should be able to wear great clothes and not lie in bed at night feeling guilty about how much money they’ve spent. High quality, luxurious clothes do not need to cost as much as we’ve been led to think.” It looks like everybody has started talking about her again which is great news. SJP may not walk around NY in 4 inch Manolo Blahniks all the time like Carrie in Sex and the City but she's certainly still got her flair for fashion. In fact, of all the celebrities getting into fashion design, it's been a wonder that Sarah Jessica hasn't tried her hand -- until now. She just announced that she will be launching her new fashion line called Bitten We can't wait to see what she's got up her sleeve.[source:popsugar]

Sarah Jessica Parker is finally utilizing her fashion insider’s access, not to mention stylistic prowess, to launch a new clothing line called Bitten, The Daily has learned. The fashion chameleon, known for the savvy manner in which she wears everything from Temperley and Giambattista Valli to Balenciaga and Gucci, is hosting two seated luncheons tomorrow at Indochine for an exclusive group of editors, where she will present a private viewing of her new line. Details on the collection, including price point, target audience, and manufacturer, remain tight-lipped, but many insiders are already comparing it to The Row, the fashion line developed by the Olsen twins. SJP, who turns 42 in two weeks, is, of course, no stranger to the fashion world, having accompanied Alexander McQueen to last year’s Costume Institute gala and been a muse to Oscar de la Renta and Narciso Rodriguez. Parker was also the recipient of the Fashion Icon Award at the CFDA Fashion Awards in 2004.

Wow guys this is awesome news, Sarah is actually creating her own line of clothes, how exciting is that...?! I bet it's going to be very succesful and as I have been reading throughout the net everybody is very excited about it. The only thing we want to say is SJP is back!!!!
