Jelena Cingara was born in 1976 in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia. In her home town, she received an early introduction to musical education at "Isidor Bajic" elementary music school.
In 1991 she moved to Toronto, Canada. In Toronto, Jelena attended the RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music). Following the RCM, she attended The University of Toronto, as a piano performance major.
Following her university years, Jelena spent two summers at the Chautauqua Institution where she participated in masterclasses by Rebecca Penneys, professor of piano at Eastman School of Music, USA. Her music education culminated at The University of Toledo, in Ohio where she received her masters degree in Piano Performance. Her professor in Toledo was Dr. Michael Boyd.
Currently, Jelena is a DMA candidate at The University of Iowa in Iowa City..Jelena's career includes a series of international and national concerts, sixteen years of piano teaching, accompanying, and chamber music.
