Higgins: An American Story Selected Reviews
Review by Becca Buckley, Author of Midnight at Trafalgar Square:
I have read Higgins twice. And Jeffery Miller
is a very good story-teller. His main character IS quite a
character! The fast-paced adventures he has from page to page are a
useful ploy in getting him from square one to two and three and so
on. One after another it seems.
I also like the '30s-type lingo Jeffery uses.
Simple short sentences, etc. Almost "Dragnet"-like. Tongue in
cheek, maybe. You can see that Jeffery has a lot more to say in
future novels. I'm looking forward to reading the next one.
Review by Niet, Author of Robbery in a Small Town:
I have just
finished Higgins, and Miller did a beautiful job on this story. The
story kept me interested throughout the entire book. I don't care for
politics, but he kept that aspect more or less in the back ground. It
was definately an interesting read.
Review by Beca Harold, Comedian
I have read this
wonderful book several times and anyone that would say negative
comments towards this author apparently would rather read a dictionary
and be bored into an oblivion. Mr. Miller keep up the wonderful work,
I will be in line waiting for the next book to come out of that
creative mind of yours!!
FIVE STAR REVIEWS!
Michael Hurley ,

THIS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST PIECES OF AMERICAN
LITERATURE THAT I HAVE READ IN A LONG TIME AND I BELIEVE THAT IT WILL
BE ONE THAT WILL STAND THE TEST OF TIME, JUST LIKE ALL OF THE
GREATS HEMINGWAY, POE, AND SHAKESPEARE!
Fred Thompson,

I really love the game that the author has
included with the novel. The chance to become a character in the novel
is a wonderful way for the author to interact with the readers. I know
that I probably won't stand a chance of winning. But It's worth a shot.
I highly recommend Higgins to all readers.
Timothy Hudson,

The title really is an American Classic. While reading, I was reminded of Hemingway minus the excessive swearing.
Cole Douglass
This book is one of the best I have ever read.
This will go down in literature history as a masterpiece. Miller has
taken conspiracy and esoteric knowledge and created a work of art.
Amazon Chatter:
Dana from Tennessee called Higgins: An American Story, "...A linguistic attempt of becoming a self published guru of bewilderment and puzzlement.."
Les from Florida said, "...I loved actually being involved in the book...it should have went further..."
Louis from Arizona must have been in awe when he wrote, "...I am not sure of what to make of the writer..."
TCM Reviews:
Katherine Maria Scott from TCM Reviews said, "...I recommend this short fiction (tale) to any reader who enjoys short fiction capable of drawing its audience into the pages from the very beginning and completely capturing its attention. This is one of those books where the reader gets to the end and says, 'Oh! That's good...'. Kudos to Mr. Miller! I can't wait to read his next American Story."
Selected Reviews for The Ballad of J.D. Higgins:
Karen Michelle Nutt, the author of Lost in the Mist of Time, had this to say, "This short story reminds me of a graphic novel: hard hitting, fast shooting, supremely intelligent hero who matches wits with a variety of villains. I can visualize the entertainment installments as if the art was already created. This book is the second of the series , and it looks like J.D. Higgins is in for more adventures. It would be perfect to read about his escapade, over a cup of coffee in the morning just to see what trouble the guy gets himself into, and how he cleverly outwits the bad guy so that he may live to see another day."
Robert G. Schroeder, the author of The Dead Game, said, "...The story itself, one man's odyssey through hard times and a harsh world plays out like a well done movie or serial I rather enjoyed the incredible foundation laid out for me..."
TCM Reviews:A reviewer who goes by the sole moniker of "RIP" from TCM Reviews opined, "...Nicely written suspense mysteries here, more than one wrapped up together blending seamlessly and tying up any loose threads by the end of the story. It is a fairly fast pace story with enough action to hold the readers attention...."
