Please comment Jeff Cooper's support of the College of Education Students, Faculty and Staff, (based on your ability to answer).

Response 1 - I am absolutely shocked! We need you here Coops! You have been so helpful in the computer lab with all of our problems. I probably should have waited a few to let this unfortunate news set in, but I am in total shock! We will miss you so much here. You have been an incredible support for me up here in the computer lab and I don't have a clue what they will do now without you...I am not sure what all of us MAT students are going to do without you! I am hoping that this decision is still in the works, but it sounds very cut in stone....good luck with your Master's degree and I wish you the best in your job future. Pacific University is suffering a great loss by letting you go! :-(

Response 2 - As I received my undergraduate degree from Pacific in addition to being a MAT 5th year student, I have had numerous instances where Jeff Cooper's technological assistance was sorely needed. He is always ready to assist in any way possible and checks repeatedly on the process to ensure its success. His vast knowledge of many programs, systems, and presentation formats is extremely useful. There is never any concern as to the timeliness of work done or with what degree of completion. I am always extremely pleased with how professional, friendly, and concerned with proficiency Mr. Cooper is. Please feel free to contact me for any further information.

Response 3 - Jeff was invaluable. He was always there when we needed him, during our classes, outside our classes, even at home. Anytime I had anything to talk to him about, he always took time out of his extremely busy day to go above and beyond the call of duty to help me. In our tech. class there isn't any possible way that I would have gotten as far without his help. Our professor of course was extremely busy helping others, and often I would find my self just sitting there waiting to be assisted. Then Jeff would walk in and help began to come more quickly and many more students were helped and therefore time was more productive for all. Basically Jeff is one of the finest people I have had the pleasure working with. He is very tech savvy, but most importantly he cared; and that is what makes him a great friend, teacher, supporter, and basically an invaluable asset to any program he may be a part of in the future. Anyone who gets the opportunity to work with Jeff in the future is going to be extremely lucky, and much better off.

Response 4 - As a student in the MAT program at Pacific, during '02-'03, I had numerous occasions to interact with Jeff for support on specific tech projects and for assistance improving my tech skills during research. He was always professional, enthusiastic and thorough. Jeff responded in a timely manner to requests for support, he offered multiple avenues to construct better understanding, and was patient when problems and answers were not easily digested. Jeff's presence at Pacific definitely enriched the program. I would recommend him, particularly in an educational setting. Sincerely, Rachel Whisler

Response 5 - I have known Jeff for about three years--going on four. He was a wonderful asset to Pacific University's College of Education. I attended Pacific University as an undergrad and Majored in Education and Learning. Jeff was always more than happy to help students, as well as faculty and staff with any kind of technology projects or problems we had. I also worked as a work-study student in the College of Education and so I know that Jeff was very dedicated to his work here at Pacific. His passion for education is very obvious and anyone would be lucky to have Jeff as part of their team. Thank you Jeff!!!

Response 6 - Jeff is an extremely knowledgeable, humorous, and patient teacher. I appreciated his willingness to help, advise, and support me in my technological endeavors.

Response 7 - Mr. Cooper knowledge about technical support is outstanding. Jeff has the technical, educational and personal skills that are paramount to providing students, educators, and administrators proper training and support in those areas. Mr. Cooper's desire and consistency in the classroom surpasses expectations, as he is always readily available for consultation and support. Students and Faculty would find his support very important, as he has the ability to answer and direct all types of inquiry. Consequently, if Jeff wasn’t able to find an appropriate answer for a question, he would go above and beyond to satisfy your needs. I have always had a positive experience with Mr. Cooper, as he brings a sense of humor to the work he does. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with Mr. Cooper. His work is very conducive to providing future educators with appropriate technical knowledge for our growing and dynamic field of education.

Response 8 - Jeff Cooper has been incredibly helpful to me, from teaching me new programs, showing me resources that are valuable to me as an English teacher, problem solving personal computer problems, setting up additional computer resources for projects. He is an invaluable resource for me and to all students and faculty, he will be sorely missed.

Response 9 - I can't begin to describe how much help I received from Jeff Cooper. Jeff helped me put together my electronic portfolio for principals. I used the cd portfolio in interviews, and my knowledge of technology is what got me the teaching job in West Linn. Technology is extremely important in school districts, and is one of the main reasons that Grad students from Pacific are hired. Our technology class through the MAT program introduced us to the various technology options available, but it was Jeff Cooper who made all of the technology understandable and accessible. I wouldn't know half of what I know in technology if it weren't for Jeff, and I probably wouldn't have a job in a technology-driven school district.

Response 10 - Jeff has always been an excellent support for students at the University. Not only did he help provide helpful information while in the lab, he also went above and beyond the call of duty by providing us other guides and resources to use. He never failed to provide us with the most recent updates available. Jeff often would postpone his own agenda to help with student presentations. Impressively, Jeff has provided us support after graduation as well. Jeff has been consistently emailing our MAT class with technological support. And last but not least, Jeff was always easy to seek out to find the information. He is very charismatic and knowledgeable and it was a pleasure to work with him.

Response 11 - Jeff Cooper is an amazing guy. I saw Jeff running around on September 27th for the technology conference getting things set up for everyone. In my School in Society class with Seth Agbo, Jeff is there before class setting up the computer/screen for Seth. I was in on Monday trying to figure out how to download my PowerPoint presentation from a Dell computer to a MAC computer. Jeff was extremely helpful. He helped me set up the PowerPoint presentation. I asked him a question when he was on a different computer, and he came right over. He could also tell by looking at my links on my powerpoint presentation that they would not work. He is incredibly knowledgeable, fun and kind. In my opinion, he is one of the last people in the College of Education that I would have let go. They have lost a real treasure, and probably do not even know that yet. And the real tragedy perhaps, is that he was not recognized for his superior service to the staff and the students.

Response 12 - What an amazing blessing you are and were to my experience at Pacific! Jeff, you have taught me soooo much about technology and teaching that I am finding it hard to put into words. Your passion for kids comes through in everything you do. Thank you for helping me so much realize why I love learning and enabling me to put forth the effort to do some incredible projects with my kids. You challenged me, inspired me, and really helped me gain a greater sense of confidence in my abilities with various software and tech tools. I love your sense of humor and relaxation with high stress situations (aka--completing the work sample). You are very patient and work well with others. You have a GREAT voice and I love that you are so involved in your kids' lives as well as drama! I want to come to your next performance! Keep in touch....

Response 13 - Jeff was an excellent computer tech ... he provided me (and the rest of the early childhood/elementary strand) with all of the answers and materials we needed. Jeff was the type of person that didn't wait for you to ask questions ~ instead, he would look around to see what people were doing in the computer lab and if they looked like they needed assistance, he would jump right in and help them. He was an invaluable aide to our learning process at Pacific because of his knowledge & expertise in computers & technology. I will truly miss his warm smile & his voice greeting us at the computer lab. I know that we probably will not have another computer tech in the lab for at least another 6 months, but if his position opened up again, I would hope that he would return to Pacific and know that he is truly appreciated by us.

Response 14 - Jeff was an amazing resource. He somehow made himself ever-available although his services were always in high demand. He was always able to answer every question he was asked, and usually provided extra information, and made sure to pass on that information to other students. I felt that he was much more qualified than our technology professor, who had to go to Jeff for answers. Jeff is someone I felt that I could contact for help with technology even after I completed my degree at Pacific, even though I did not establish much of a relationship with him while I was there. What I mean by that is, that Jeff is always willing to help anyone, whether he knows them or not, whether he is obligated to or not. He truly goes beyond the call of duty. I don't know how the College of Ed will manage without him.

Response 15 - It is with great disappointment that I read the news of Pacific University's Education Department losing such a valuable resource as Jeff Cooper. Throughout my time in the Masters in Teaching program, Jeff was always available to expediate and facilitate my needs relating to technology. He was a committed teacher, as well as peer, who always strived to know more and find a better way. I was especially thankful for all of his help when I was setting up web pages and looking to purchase digital video equipment. Jeff's sincere commitment to the use of technology to improve and enhance education for students of all ages will be greatly missed at Pacific University. I recommend Jeff for any position in which dedication and excellence are strived for.

Response 16 - Jeff has been a huge asset to the college of education. He organized and supported everything in the computer lab. He was very knowledgeable about technology and was always more than willing to help me and my fellow students while in the computer lab. I feel the school of education has suffered a huge loss. Jeff was very much appreciated by students and he will be greatly missed.

Response 17 - Jeff was an invaluable member of the Pacific staff. He provided complete technical service to all of the students in the College of Education. Jeff will be sorely missed! In addition to the many times he assisted me during class and after classes, he also provided support on weekends and at night. During the summer my laptop acquired the MS Blast worm. Jeff spent over 2 hours with me instructing me on how to rid my machine of the worm. If not for Jeff, I would have lost valuable time, and perhaps some data, while I tried to get other help. His expertise is very apparent. He also spent much time working with the teachers at the college to make sure that the technology classes had everything working when it was needed.

Response 18 - As a graduate student in Pacific University's College of Education, I feel highly qualified to evaluate Jeff Cooper's performance in support of our faculty and students. Added to this, I have 17 years experience in the field of manufacturing, and during that time, I worked with a wide variety of technology specialists, both good and bad. That said, it is my opinion that Mr. Cooper is one of the most informed, helpful, and approachable technology specialists with whom I have worked. That last point is often not given the credit it deserves, but in my opinion, knowledge is useless if it is not accompanied by approachability. I found Mr. Cooper to be readily available, patient, respectful, and possessed of a good sense of humor. In addition, he has assembled a wealth of online resources and links which are invaluable to students such as myself. Finally, I personally received timely and effective support from Mr. Cooper while off-campus, both by e-mail and telephone. I know I speak for most, if not all, of my fellow students when I say that Jeff Cooper will be sorely missed by the 2004 MAT 5th year program.

Response 19 - Jeff is the most supportive person I have had the pleasure of meeting at Pacific University. Whenever I needed help I would ask, "are you busy?" no matter how busy Jeff actually was, he would ALWAYS make time to help students. Jeff taught me tips and trick to use computer programs more efficiently. He was always available to answer questions. He even helped me with my personal laptop computer. It is clear that Jeff loved helping people with computers. The College of Education will not be the same without him. I am confident that Jeff Cooper will bring the same enthusiasm to his educational consulting business and absolutely everything that he pursues.

Response 20 - Throughout the past four and a half years that I have been at Pacific, Jeff has assisted me in numerous technological projects and assignments for school that I otherwise would not have been able to create, were it not for his unfailing support. He has always been willing to take time to answer my questions and offer advice, even when he was occupied and really did not have much time to spare. I recently purchased a new laptop computer, and Jeff helped me from step one--from selecting the computer that best meets my needs, ordering it, to learning how to use it after I received it. I feel that Jeff has not only helped me learn more about the technology available for future educators, but he has been a constant source of support and a friend as well. Though I will miss him, I have no doubts that Jeff will continue to be an excellent source of technological support for those who work with him in his next endeavor. Thank you for your consideration.

Response 21 - Jeff was a constant support during my educational experience at Pacific University. Regardless of what he was currently doing, he would find time to help and listen. His sense of humor combined with is in-depth knowledge of technology made him my most valuable resource while completing the MAT program. After difficult and often monotonous days at the university, I often looked forward to spending time talking and laughing with Jeff in the computer lab. He started making my peers and I smile from the moment he entered our educational research class, until the day I graduated. His dedication, knowledge, and compassion will not be forgotten. I can’t imagine the educational department operating efficiently without him. I’m certain that his presence will be sorely missed. Contact me anytime for specific examples of the contributions Jeff has provided to my peers and me.

Response 22 - Jeff is awesome. He had tons of resources he could produce at the drop of a hat. Jeff was great with technology and has much experience with both the Mac and PC side of things... software and hardware. He also seemed to have a way with people. Very friendly, open and caring person which is a rare find amongst tech types.

Response 23 - I have known Jeff for only a short period of time, however, he has been one of the most helpful and friendly people in my encounter here at Pacific. Jeff showed an extreme passion for his job; he truly wants to share his knowledge of technology with educators and does an excellent job of it. He has gone above and beyond the call of duty for Pacific students and staff and will be sorely missed by many of us. I highly recommend Jeff for any technical support position he may run across, and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

Response 24 - Jeff Cooper gave magnificent support to the College of Education Students and Faculty. As a demanding college student last year at Pacific University, I was constantly working with Jeff, asking him questions, and tapping him for information. He was always available, patient, and knowledgeable. Whoever hires Jeff will have hired an outstanding employee.

Response 25 - One of the reasons I came to Pacific University was its reputation in the area of educational technology. In my time as a graduate student at Pacific, it has been Jeff Cooper who has instructed me one-on-one on how to use the following: Tapped-In, Track Star, and a number of other on-line teacher resources; student-appropriate web browsers and e-mail tools; tricks with programs I use every day like Word, Inspiration, and Power Point; Internet research tools; and web-page construction techniques. Jeff helped me to select, purchase, and set up an iBook computer I use for my university studies and presentations as well as in the classroom with students. Jeff has been available 24-7 as my go-to tech support guy since the time I began my studies at Pacific. His encyclopedic knowledge of computer systems and the Internet is accompanied by a personability and willingness to share and teach that I have never before found in working with Tech Specialists. Jeff's teaching has been invaluable to my education as a teacher.

Response 26 - Jeff Cooper was always eager and helpful. He went out of his way to answer every question and offered extra ideas. I was amazed by his high level of computer skills. He is very passionate about his work and how it helps students. I observed him helping students, faculty and staff anytime they needed assistance, even during his personal time. The program would've been much more difficult without Jeff's help. The college of Education won't be as productive without Jeff.

Response 27 - Jeff Cooper was an outstanding asset to the College of Education. I can honestly say that I learned more from him than I did from some of the Professors. There have been many occasions during the last four months when "Coops" has really saved my bacon when I was having tech problems. However, Jeff Cooper was more than that, his sense of humor and willingness to help made him a friend to most of the students. The computer lab has not been the same since Jeff was laid off, it is as though the room is missing the roof, or a wall. Pacific University, an institution that I have been studying at for five years, made a mistake in laying off Jeff Cooper.

Response 28 - Unbelievably helpful, smart, kind, witty, and hilarious. I have never met someone who loved their job as much as he did. He made asking a question comfortable and easy. It is truly saddening to see him go.

Response 29 - Jeff Cooper always provided an excellent level of professional support - both technical and personal. He has an exceptional ability to work with computer technology and share that knowledge with students and co workers. In my work at Pacific, I was often in the computer lab, using both Mac and PC platforms. Jeff often provided a level of support that meant the difference between success and failure on many projects. He was patient and thorough in his attention to detail and always offered additional information. Jeff is an asset to any organization that needs technical support and the ability to work with people from all walks of life.

Response 30 - Jeff Cooper was of great help to those who needed his support in the technology department! During my technology course, which was taught by another faculty member, Jeff was always around for the extra help that we needed. He is very knowledgeable in the field as well as giving all of us students confidence by constantly commending us on our progress. Not only was Jeff great helping us on the computer, but was also very successful at organizing the schedule for the technology equipment that we could check out. I had checked out a projector from Pacific and was unsure as to how to operate it. Jeff was more than happy to run through the procedures with me. I feel that Jeff Cooper is a highly qualified professional in the field of technology, as well as a supportive and encouraging professor.

Response 31 - He is a great instructor. Vast amounts of knowledge on the different technology topics and how to implement them in our classrooms.

Response 32 - Working with Jeff during my time in the MAT program at Pacific was a gift. He was very willing and able to give suggestion, support, and resources that not only helped me in the program, but also created a bank of resources and information I use daily in my teaching profession. Jeff was always friendly and very knowledgeable in the technological world. I am sure he will make an outstanding addition to any team and will be missed at Pacific.

Response 33 - I think Jeff did an excellent job assisting and supporting the education students at Pacific. I can't name how many times Jeff helped me in the computer lab. He was always available for questions, and he also helped set up specific technology items for our classes and presentations. He took his job very seriously. He also went out of his way to meet with students at scheduled times if they were having difficulty. He was also very reliable.

Response 34 - The support that Jeff Cooper provided for me was immensely helpful. He helped me understand the Go Live program we used to design our personal websites. I feel that without Jeff's help and expertise I would still be struggling with the program. Jeff's help and knowledge was priceless to me and I feel he showed me a new way of appreciating the technology I was using.

Response 35 - Jeff's support was invaluable. I wouldn't have been able to complete my more difficult assignments without his help. I found him to be patient, professional and willing to spend the time needed to fully explain computer processes.

Response 36 - I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Jeff Cooper (Coops) for the past three years. He has been my supervisor, mentor, technical support, and also my friend. Jeff is the kind of guy that would do anything for others if they were to ask. His people skills are a gift that continually brings a smile to many of frantic/frightened students’ faces. Coops was the man to talk to if you needed anything to get done that involved technology at the College of Ed. He constantly provided much needed support to students as well as faculty. He was always willing to offer help to anyone who needed it, even if it meant rearranging his busy schedule. He is a master of multitasking, and is constantly striving to stay on ‘the cutting edge’ of everything that deals with technology. He is so good at his job because he cares so much. He has a love for education and learning that few ever know. He is actively a member in his community’s school system, a nationwide professional development community, and has worked with educators around the globe to make education better. He definitely inspires me to be a better teacher and a better person. He was the main person to inspire me to work towards finding the position I currently hold as a High School Technology Teacher, and I appreciate all that he has done for me and my colleagues at Pacific University. I am sure that Coops will surely be missed by all who had the opportunity to work with or around him. If you have any questions that I could answer about Jeff please feel free to contact me.

Response 37 - I was extremely sad to hear that Jeff's position had been cut. He provided excellent support to all students and staff. A particular experience-I needed help setting up my laptop to accept Pacific's wireless network. I went to see Jeff on a Friday afternoon at 4:00. He tried to install the network on my computer but experienced a problem. I repeatedly said that I could come back at another time-I knew what it was like on Friday afternoons, but he was determined to get my problem fixed. We ended up walking down to the IT center to figure it out. He could have sent me down there and been done with me, but instead, he came so he could learn about this to ensure he knew what to do if he encountered the problem again. We ended up finishing at 5:30. He is selfless when it comes to his job. His dedication is easily apparent in your dealings with him. He will be sorely missed by every one.

Response 38 - For me, Jeff Cooper was one of the reassuring constants at Pacific's College of Education. He is a multi-talented person with rich and diverse life experiences who seems to truly enjoy helping people. I was part of a stressed out group of grad students, always rushing to meet deadlines, and with a wide variety of skill levels, but he seemed endlessly patient and, even more remarkably, always good-natured about helping us. He knew every techno answer I needed (or where to find it quickly), and saved me and my colleagues several times before presentations and projects were due. The best thing of all about him, though, is how genuinely he seems to enjoy helping people and enlightening them to potential technological solutions and resources available. He's a major networker. Jeff is a gem, and I feel lucky to have been there while he was, too.

Response 39 - As a student in Pacific University's College of Education, it was rare to enter the Education computer lab and not see Jeff Cooper. He was interested in the work that I was doing and often had suggestions about how to find more information. I know from professors that he often helped them figure out how to set up Power Point presentations, both for class and professional seminars. Jeff was a great asset for teacher training at Pacific and it is sad that he is moving on.

Response 40 - Even though I have only known Jeff for a short amount of time, his contribution to the program and the help he has given me has been wonderful. He is the only person I have met so far that is willing to help you understand computers and technology, without putting you on hold, or asking you to make an appointment. He is one of the most knowledgeable people I have met in his field. Since Jeff has been gone, the computer lab at the college has been terrible. I spent nearly 3 hours on a 20 minute presentation (I was trying to add a sound clip from the internet) If Jeff would have been there, I would have had the project done in about an hour. We are all so sad that Jeff is gone. We all got to know him as a mentor and friend, and any company would be lucky to have him as an employee.

Response 41 - I am an older student with some technical limitations. With Jeff's help I have been able to keep up with a very demanding program. For me the loss of Jeff is a much bigger loss than would be anyone else on the staff. As prospective non-traditional students ask me about Pacific, I will tell them that the best reason for going to Pacific was laid off. Jeff is a good techy and a great person! Thank you for the opportunity to say so.

Response 42 - Jeff Cooper is an enthusiastic and dedicated educator. As a support to me during my pre-service training, he modeled an unflinching commitment to teaching and professional development. His knowledge and application of IT resources for educators is incomparable. He showed a passion for his craft that rubbed off onto both technologically hesitant as well as savvy pupils. His combination of humor and patience was noted and appreciated by me and many of my colleagues. He was very approachable with questions and concerns. In addition, his initiative to make suggestions saved us lots of time, an invaluable asset in our profession. He continues to regularly contact and encourage our graduating MAT class, even though we graduated several years ago. I give my highest recommendation for Jeff to lead or contribute to any technological learning environment. I am certain he will be a valuable asset to the school or foundation for whom he next serves.

Response 43 - I was a MAT student Jeff's first year. Jeff went out of his way to provide tech support. Even when his time was off, he still persisted in making sure our tech problems were resolved. If he didn't know the answer, he would do his best to locate a resource to solve it. He did this with me and my colleagues, often staying late on weeknights and weekends, beyond his regularly scheduled hours. He just seemed to have so much heart and concern about him. He is tactful and never criticized our attempts, no matter how "simple" they may have seemed to be. Even after receiving our degrees he continued to provide resources and tech help. He never was irritated with any question or concern you would ask of him. I wish more business people and suppliers I work with were more exemplary of his behavior! I have nothing but nice things to say about Jeff. Please give him your utmost consideration in this position or any position that he should apply for.

Response 44 - Jeff Cooper gave me all the assistance I needed, not only with technology, but with my job search as well. He made me feel like I was his personal project. I never felt that I was cutting into his time and never felt that any other student's work was more important to him than mine.

Response 45 - Jeff was willing to work long hours or do whatever it took to provide the support that students needed for projects, assignments, lesson ideas, or any creative idea we wanted to try. I was amazed at the new technology Jeff was able to teach us about. He was also great at brainstorming how technology could be incorporated effectively into our classroom lessons. Jeff would be a great addition to your staff and an incredible service to your students!

Response 46 - I met Jeff when I was a student in the MAT program at Pacific University and he was hired as the Education Department's technology staff person. Jeff was always ready and willing to help with the technology needs of myself and my peers. Undoubtedly, he was well-versed in all aspects of technology.

Response 47 - I really appreciated all the help from Jeff Cooper during the year I was in MAT at Pacific U. I felt like I was having constant problems with my technology, and he was always there to help. He was also a great reference for any websites that helped educators in the classroom. I use some of his websites, for use in my school. I cannot say enough about how much of a help he was. Jeff you're GREAT!

Response 48 - Jeff Cooper was an exceptionally integral part of my experience during my Masters in Education program at Pacific University.  Not only was he available to all students in my program, but he also went out of his way to facilitate the special needs of anyone requiring his assistance.  Jeff's patience with novices and his depth of knowledge with those experienced in technology are only small reflections of his importance to this program. Education programs claim to support greater learning in the technological arena, but without a person that is not only able, but so very competent in his field, many students would find less than success.  I am proud to know Jeff and grateful to have worked with him during my graduate program.
