My suggestion for a quick workout - Park and Walk
If you do not like going to the gym or to walk every morning as part of an exercise program, there
is something simple you can do to keep your fitness up.
Whenever I go to the grocery store, the mall or the park, I always try to park as far away as
possible from where I have to go so that I will have to walk the distance. This way I get some
exercise every day!
Stress Management Tip
Give yourself plenty of time to get to where you are going. Try bringing a book or magazine with
you when you may have to pass time while waiting for an appointment or meeting.
Trying to quit smoking?
If you are a smoker, trying to quit is the hardest thing in your life. An easy way of doing it is to
take a cigarette and put it to your mouth but don't light it. Just pretend to be smoking it for a
couple of minutes then put it away for the next time you have a craving. Try this technique
without lighting it and see if it helps.
When one tries to quit smoking, it is O.K. to want something to replace the cigarette. Eating is
usually the next step - that is O.K. too. I am an ex-smoker; my need now is chips, or something
tasty to eat. My worst fear was getting fat, understandably. If you choose what you eat, carefully
it will amaze you at how successful you will be and still not gain weight.
Do you have trouble with heart burns and burning stomach?
This means you could have stomach sore. If this is the case, let me teach you a home remedy
that I learnt while on the mission field in Brazil, SA. Peel a potato, grate it very small, wrap the
grated potato into a small piece of clothe, squeeze the juice from it into a cup and drink it. Do not
cook the potato. You do this everyday, first thing in the morning before breakfast, you will see
results. It worked for me!
How to lower high cholesterol
For those that have high cholesterol, here is a suggestion you can try to see if it works for you.
Eggplant is a vegetable that is known to help lower high cholesterol. Slice the eggplant about
1/4 inch thick, then put the eggplant into a gallon of water and refrigerate. Drink about three
glasses of this eggplant water a day! (do not cook the eggplant) My husband tried this and it
worked for him.
Which cold cereals are the healthiest picks?
This breakfast mainstay can be a goldmine in terms of vitamins, minerals and fiber --- but can also
be loaded with sugar. Your best bet is to check the nutrition facts label on the side of the box.
The section called Total Carbohydrates tells you everything you need to know, which is both the
fiber and the sugar content. Look for cereals with at least 3 grams of dietary fiber. Keep in mind
that 4 grams of sugar equals one teaspoon; that’s the maximum amount you should get per
serving. Remember, however, that cereals such as raisin bran or low-fat granola with dried berries
may have up to twice that amount but still are fine choices because some of
the sugar comes from fruit - and fruit supplies lots of other excellent nutrients.

Try Positive Thinking
Keeping yourself in shape and fit is very important. Your mind and thoughts need to keep in shape
as well as your body. Try Positive Thinking as a constant thing. When ever you have a negative
thought, replace it with its opposite.
Don’t make your self or any one else out to be wrong.
Know that you are doing the very best that you can, just as everyone one else is doing the best
they know how.
When ever you have a negative thought just say to yourself "I Accept myself as I am". It works
especially if you do it over and over it keeps your out look positive.
Try extended concentration when you have some time to yourself and you are alone. Focus on an
image like a Ocean scene or a secluded forest. By doing this you are recreating the feeling of a
stillness, inner peace and contentment. Stay with this image until you feel calm.
If you are feeling stressed - meditate. It actually lowers your blood pressure. Find a quiet still place
to be by yourself. Take 4 very deep breaths from the bottom of your belly. Exhale slowly. Calm
yourself and clear your mind. Let your thoughts slowly fade. If you can’t clear them totally that’s
okay. It’s the nature of the mind to think just let them pass. Now, Keep your concentration on
your breathing. While breathing slowly and deeply, add some Yoga to your daily exercises. All you
have to do is stretch your legs out as far as you can comfortably and keep them extended and
switch legs. You are extending your flexibility. Reach over your head with your arms all the way
over, still while breathing deeply and slowly. Each day I begin my day with a quiet calmness with
these exercises. Give them a try. They Work!
How to Avoid Over-Eating
Drink a glass of water or tea before you start eating. It will make you feel less hungry because it
will take up room in your stomach.
9 Ways to Supercharge your Workout
Start with one high - powered workout per week, and add more when you feel comfortable. Warm
up for 5 minutes and always cool down thoroughly. If you feel light headed or dizzy, stop
immediately and consult your doctor.

Saw Palmetto Beneficial For Men
Published research on saw palmetto shows that the herb is helpful in treating symptoms of Benign Prostatic
Hyperplasia (BHP). A research review of saw palmetto involving a total of 18 trials and 2,939 men indicated that
the extract is more effective than a placebo in improving urinary tract symptoms, flow measures and peak urine
flow. In addition, saw palmetto was found to be effective for treating BPH in comparison to other phytotherapies.

Men Over Fifty Find Relief With Saw Palmett
The American Botanical Council, a non-profit research and educational organization, has produced a summary of
scientific research regarding the benefits of the herb saw palmetto in men over the age of 50 who have benign
prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). BPH is a condition affecting approximately half of the 50+ male population, and is
marked by an enlarged prostate. The Council states that at least 18 studies, including double-blind studies
conducted on more than 1,000 patients, point to saw palmetto's ability to help relieve symptoms. Researchers
have discovered that saw palmetto can help increase urine flow, decrease the frequency of urination and reduce
discomfort associated with BPH.
Saw Palmetto Berry Extract, Serenoa repens
- Average Daily Dose: 320 mg lipophilic ingredients extracted with lipophilic solvents. Equivalent preparations.
- Modern Use: Urination problems in benign prostate hyperplasia stages 1 and 2.
- Contraindications: None known. Pregnancy and lactation: Not recommended due to lack of data.
- Side Effects: In rare cases, stomach problems and headaches. Large amounts of the berry are reported to cause diarrhea.

Cranberry Fruit, Vaccinium macrocarpon
- Average Daily Dose: UTI prevention: 3 oz. cranberry juice cocktail per day. UTI treatment: 12-22 oz. daily, or equivalent supplement preparations.

- Contraindications: None known. No contraindications for cranberry juice during pregnancy and lactation.
- Side Effects: None known at regular intake levels. Ingestion of large amounts (more than 3-4 liters per day)
- often results in diarrhea and other gastrointestinal symptoms.

One Delicious Cookie:
Cherry and White Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies....you won't be able to resist!
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
I cup firmly packed light brown sugar
3/4 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
2 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups uncooked regular oats
2 (6oz) packages white chocolate baking bars, coarsely chopped
1 cup sweetened dried cherries.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until fluffy; gradually add sugars, beating well.
Add eggs and vanilla; beat well.
Combine flour and next 3 ingredients; gradually add to butter mixture, beating well. Stir in oats,
white chocolate and cherries.
Using two tablespoons - drop dough 2" apart onto a parchment lined cookie sheet. Bake for
approximately 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on pans before removing to cool on wire

The Fountain of Youth
While a fountain of youth may be a myth, there are steps you can take to
prevent aging's toll on the body.
What Causes Aging?
There are two important concepts here: the concept of age related disease and the
concept of aging in general. While we do not know the molecular basis of aging,
we are getting much closer and many believe it is related to mitochondrial DNA
function--that is the DNA that isn’t in your nucleus, but the DNA that is in

avoid saturated and trans-fat, and avoid smoking and second hand smoke. Aging
of the immune system can also be delayed significantly by making sure you get
the right amount of vitamin D through sun, diet, or supplements.

Supplements are absolutely important to delay aging. When I first started educating
myself through medical research, we were told if you eat a balanced diet you

to an increase in free radicals, which can damage cells and potentially lead to

peacefully. Not dye in agonizing pain due to some disease that I may have been
able to avoid if I had just listened taken responsible action.
A multivitamin, minerals and additional trace minerals are absolutely critical
in maintaining good health and living a long healthy life. I also believe the
data for B-vitamin complex, vitamin C, vitamin D, calcium, magnesium, selenium
and vitamin E shows they are critical for good health and fighting aging. You

vegetables should be leafy green ones eaten with a little healthy fat to ensure
proper absorption and digestion. Immune function also declines with age and the
ability to fight off infection diminishes.
Malnutrition would exacerbate a decline in immunity, therefore, it is important
that older individuals receive adequate calories and protein on a daily basis.
Furthermore, there is also an increase in free radicals with age, which can
damage cells and potentially lead to the onset of chronic disease(s).
Women may be especially hard hit as they suffer a decline in
estrogen with age, and estrogen is protective to bone mass and to the heart as
well. Because of the loss of estrogen after menopause, it is important for
older women to take measures to maintain a healthy heart and protect their
