1901 Glasgow International Exhibition

The Seaman & Sons series of stereoscopic images of the 1901 Glasgow International Exhibition are a wonderful record of this lively event. The BJP noted "A phenomenal spell of brilliant sunshine and dry weather for nearly a month has brought a large influx of visitors ... and in all leading thoroughfares the hand camera is in evidence."

Interestingly this is one of the few series of stereos to be marketed with 'Seaman & Sons' printed prominently on most cards. More than thirty cards have been seen and it is likely that the series ran to at least 50 views. They are wonderfully busy, close pictures, that view well in the scope. By comparison the views of the exhibition by Excelsior and The American International View company are rather dull and distant.
