The PCUK Convention Derby 1886

From The British Journal of Photography:

'The Convention was founded in the summer of 1886. Its object was to afford facilities to the photographers, professional and amateur, for an annual gathering at some suitable town previously agreed on for the purpose of hearing and discussing papers of photographic interest; of holding exhibitions, excursions, a dinner, and other social gatherings. Conventions carried out on this model have for many years been popular in the United States. Forty six members attended the first event in Derby and visited Haddon, Chatsworth, Dovedale, and Matlock.'
