It was just that - a dream, no one can write with these genius composers, but you can come up with something different.

This site was put together by two Chicago born Songwriters, Cy Green (Jimmy Scalise) & Jim Miller. Being late-bloomers to composing, they have worked together for 25 years. They are self-taught and are not musicians. Recording and producing their own material is an extremely hard task. "We just write man, and dealing with record companies and publishers is flat out futile without someones' help." Our demos were just okay and not enough to impress many people. THEY JUST GAVE UP! So now they are trying to produce an honest representation of their work - the VOCAL SIDE. Chicago has always been very diverse in its' musical output, and they hope to add some NEW JAZZ TUNES to the mix. DONATIONS for the JAZZ LIST can help them accomplish this.

One of the mysteries of JAZZ has been saxophonist, JOHN KLEMMER who left Chicago (I believe), in 1968. An immensely talented musician and innovator that I never fully understood. But I love and understand his quote:

"You have to cut through the music business to reach the people which is no easy task."

THIS IS WHY WE CREATED:

TO RAISE FUNDS TO GET THEIR MUSIC OUT THERE.

No longer willing to give up his 'rent money' to pursue his dream -

Starting with about 8,000 recordings (their own), Cy Green and Chicago Jazz DJ William Bohannon, painstakingly when thru their combined collections. To compile this LIST was no easy task. It took a lot of time and thought (about 5 years.) They chose only the cream and whittled it down to about 1,200 Highly Recommended Recordings any true jazz enthusiast would enjoy and want to buy.
