We've got 1,200 more GOODIES for you.
Get your moneysworth on REISSUES.
They're all not worth the cost.

This site was put together by two Chicago born composers, Cy Green & Jim Miller. They were assisted by local Jazz DJ Bill Bohannon. We will give you information about great jazz recordings - the BEST JAZZ CD's TO BUY. It took us a lifetime to acquire this knowledge. You can have it in an instant. We are sincerely asking jazz lovers for help.
Since Cy & Jim are just writers and not performers, it's almost impossible to get their material out there today. They have been through all the normal rejections of their songs. Many times they have been close, but no cigar. They now want to do the real thing - their way.
They are both self taught and have worked together for 25 years. Their education is the school of hard knocks. "We just write man, and dealing with record companies and publishers is flat out futile without someone's help." Their demos were just okay and not enough to impress many people. Perhaps timing has been a culprit when submitting. Artists being busy on tour or they just did a recording.THEY JUST GAVE UP!
They have recorded instrumental versions of their tunes in San Francisco, 2005. Now they are trying to produce an honest representation of their work - the VOCAL SIDE. This is where there is nowhere to hide.Chicago has always been very diverse in it's musical output, and they hope to add some NEW JAZZ TUNES to the mix. Donations for the JAZZLIST can help them accomplish this.
We need YOU ...

our fantastic JAZZ LIST will be in your E-Mail immediately!

Composer CY GREEN - a student of life and a loser at love.

Birthname: James E Scalise
He never studied music and cannot play an instrument.
Publishers told him he wrote too personal ...
But he didn't LISTEN!
With his co-writer JAMES ARTHUR MILLER, he is putting music together .... to fill a void between yesterday and today. Most established stars would rather stay in their 'comfort zone' when they perform and not be challenged by anything new and different. What a loss to music this is.
Compared to the other forms of stagnant music on the planet, this should be a GREAT TIME for Jazz and a larger audience. If you are a working artist who is tired of those old 'standards', and looking for new material - give us a look.
HERE ARE SAMPLES OF THEIR WORK:
The non-performing songwriter: The most under appreciated person in music,
and in today's music world - the poorest.
They are just taken for granted - What a shame. It's still about the tune, man!
The song itself will outlast
any band or singer.
"Non-performing songwriters often have a level of craftmanship that is higher than of their performing peers. Performing songwriters with bands create great productions from an okay song and make it great. Non-performing writers don't have this option."
Michael Kosser/ American Songwriter Mag
JOHNNY MERCER (1909 -1976)

Song Lyricist
The words are the hardest part to get right in a song.
This man was the most prolific.
CY's other places on the net
He has co-written two songs to God, that only sensitive jazz oriented artists can do justice.

CY GREEN @ The Jazz Network Click on "MY PAGE"
He once had a dream:
"to shake the dust off the world and write songs to stand up alongside" ...

PORTER, GERSHWIN, BERLIN, RODGERS & KERN and maybe a
new "BODY AND SOUL" .... 50 years later.
These people wrote some of the greatest songs ever, yet Gershwin was the
only real musician. Nearly all of the past elite writers did not perform in public.
They just wrote!

Even the BEATLES were basically musical illiterates. They couldn't read it or write it, and had an angel in George Martin who put it all together for them.

The JAZZ WORLD has plenty of musicians and singers -
it needs LISTENERS!
The TUNES have become secondary - It's all about the Artist today.
These two vocalists lived much of what they sang about.
I personally believe they are the two greatest storytellers ever.

What's happen in the last 30 years?
There are no performers bigger than life anymore.
Personally, we think MUSIC is at an all-time low.

(1944 - 2009)

This guy could light the night with his great
sounds for half the U.S. from 1969 to 1978.

DEAD AT 25!

(1930-1956)
Would he have gone on to be the GREATEST TRUMPET of them all?
The real tragedy is all the tunes he never got to do.
We have many tunes ready to record and need your help to do it.
This includes an ode to the immortal trumpet giant, CLIFFORD BROWN.
Original Jazz Tune w/ LYRICS
50 years later, there is no upside to Cliffords' death, but this tune takes a different slant
than " I REMEMBER CLIFFORD" written by Benny Golson & Jon Hendricks in 1957.

Join us and be a supporter of Cy & Jim's music. They have worked together since 1983 and have come up with NEW JAZZ TUNES to add to the mix. They are not common, formula type writers and have something different to say. I don't believe there's a chance for them to be considered pop writers, and they would probably prefer a cult following. It's taken many years and re-writes to arrive at the point they now are. I personally believe their time has come and is right around the corner.

YOU CAN ALSO HELP THE CAUSE BY BUYING THEIR
DEBUT CD recorded in San Francisco May, 2005
ALL INSTRUMENTALS!
"PLAYS THE MUSIC OF JIM MILLER & CY GREEN"
The Time Is Now

Taking on original material from unknown writers is a risk. Given only a short time to prepare, the gentlemen in the Mitch Marcus Quintet take on this task quite admirably. This is not the norm for this saxophonist leader. This CD has a spontaneously fresh feel to it unlike anything he's ever done.
There are some very creative solos from all members. "Night Cabbie" is a standout. Guitarists will take note of Mike Abraham on this cut. "Portrait" comes across as a penchant and beautiful work reminiscent of the blue side of Monk. Then there is bassist David Ewell - what a wonderful player he is! Mitch along with altoist Sylvain Carton, weave their magic througout this CD. Their solos on "Clifford's Chant" seem real heartfelt.
It is my wish that you do yourself a favor and purchase this. You will not be disappointed. I am personally looking forward to the vocal side of these writers, and so should you.
Sincerely,
Bill Bohannon, WBEE Jazz DJ
Mitch Marcus, tenor sax & piano
Sylvain Carton, alto sax
Mike Abraham, guitar
David Ewell, bass
Sameer Gupta, drums
