This site is dedicated to recommending recordings that you will play time and time again - Classic Jazz Recordings! It was put together for a cause: To raise funds to produce original material written by non-performing songwriters - Jimmy Scalise & James A. Miller who are originally from Chicago.
They actually write tunes with MELODIES!
Including a new CLIFFORD BROWN tune, "Clifford's Chant."
Nothing against the current crop of musicians, but if this is all you are listening too - you are missing out on a ton of great stuff. We deal with the bottom line facts with no hype or fanfare. We are not selling records, but passing on information to you as a consumer, that took a lifetime of listening to acquire. Being a jazz musician is a hard life, and it's even harder to capture these sometimes temperamental beings (on tape) at their highest level of creativity. Through no fault of their own, many of them were over-recorded and others have drastic gaps in their record production. Believe me, they have dry spells, emotional problems and slumps just like the rest of us, and record things they could care less about. What we did here, was pick the recordings that reach a high level. Your eyeballs may be wired shut to another LIST, but this one is for a cause and worthy of your attention. It covers most genres of this vast and complex music called Jazz.
My collaborator on this project , WILLIAM BOHANNAN, a jazz disc jockey in Chicago for many years thinks I may be cutting my own throat. He believes that being a writer who is trying to raise money to pursue this, by promoting the best in past Jazz - is detrimental to my health. I say let the chips fall where they may. If music is good in one era, it's good in any era - period. Time tells all. So after 5 years of the tedious and painstaking task of choosing the 'Cream from our combined collections of over 8,000 RECORDINGS (mostly vinyl) - We believe we have come up with 55 years of JAZZ BLISS! The great ones are all here.

This is great for the seasoned collector who may have missed them the first time around. And for the newer listener who wants to go back a wee-bit, this JAZZLIST is definitely for you.
