Filming

The first weekend of filming went spectacularly. There were a few major bumps but as always we found a creative solution. I ended up having to play one of the roles because an actress I had lined up couldn't commit. I'm super duper bummed about that but what can you do? The show must go on!

I don't understand when people in the business tell you not to work with animals or kids. There were a total of 4 kids that we used this weekend all under the age of 10 and they were phenomenal. Not one single complaint! Cute little dears! As many of you know there is A LOT of cursing in the film so we had to be careful what lines were said around the kids and what we could add later in post. There were a few camera tricks we did do give the illusion that horrible foul mouthed things were going on around their little ears but actually weren't. I can't wait to see how that looks with some editing.

The 2nd day of shooting ended up taking place in my basement last minute because a landlord didn't want us shooting at the location we had lined up. It was probably for the best since my friend went full frontal during the Naked hangman scene. Yup. Didn't expect to show the actual nakedness but my cinematographer liked the angle so I said "Why not?" Hope it doesn't lower our chances of getting into festivals. I guess we'll see. We also discovered that GoldBond medicated Foot Powder makes an excellent dust effect. *Note to self: Look up long term effects of inhaling medicated powder into the lungs.

Our most recent day of shooting included one of the babies and let me tell you he is the sweetest most chill infant. His mom gave us permission to do the yelling scenes with him around and he wasn't even scared. More interested in eating some grass actually (his attempts were thwarted by his many admirers on set.) I can't wait to get his chubby cheeks on camera again! Until the next shoot I bid you farewell!

In School

Back at school in Syracuse. Boy did I miss all the legging-wearing trust fund babies! That was sarcasm. Good news though, I finished my senior script and I'm starting pre-production. I can tell that my Professor is already questioning my project. Doesn't she know that I always bite off more than I can chew? I am gonna DO THIS and it will be in the SXSW film Festival next year. That's that. I already decided so basically it's happening. I have a few more parts to cast and I'm crossing my fingers that a certain actress friend will do me a huge favor! We'll see if this blog will light a fire under her ass. The only thing that hasn't gone to plan was having my other friend in the film, she's becoming really important and famous so I guess I can forgive her.

I'll keep everyone updated on the film and any weird/funny happenings. If I don't post for awhile just assume I had a nervous breakdown. BYE!tongue

Holy freaking crap! I am in my House of Origin (AKA parent's house) And finally have some internets. In honor of that fact I would like to tell you all why I am currently overloading with ecstatic emotions:

- I am leaving for Newfoundland in 2 days! I get to hang with my extended family and nobody knows how to dance a jig and drink like Newfies!

-No work for like 3 weeks so my soul can fuse back together

- We're driving there and it will take 2 days. The Canadian countryside is gorgeous.

-After Canada I'm going to L.A! Allowing me to meet up with some cool people, hang out with my Josh, go to the zoo, and have some adventures!

-I will refresh my brain and prepare myself for my senior film shoot.

I'm Back!

Hi there! Woah I have been gone a loooong time. So sorry about that folks! So much has happened since my last post! I'm working 9 hour days at work all in the hopes to save some DAMN money to take a trip to L.A and possibly Costa Rica. Work isn't being super about the whole "time off" thing so I need to work that out. Man am I stressed!

The start of filming my senior film edges ever closer, perhaps I should finish the script ha haha. Being an adult sucks! At least I have my dreams to keep me entertained. There have been a lot of cameos by some twitter folks lately. @breagrant was in a dream that involved climbing trees, rescuing puppies and then thinking up funny movie ideas involving them in an all puppy version of Willy Wonka. @valleypeaks was in that same dream rehearsing scenes in the connective backyards of a neighborhood. Can I just say everytime @valleypeaks is in a dream they're in people's backyards. I guess I associate them with mowed grass and lawn ornaments! I need to stop eating and twittering before bed!

OZ

Last Thursday we had to put our dog Ozzie to sleep. He was just your typical Boxer dog who enjoyed his blue stuffed hippo and yelling back at people. Then all of a sudden he had a seizure and completely changed. He could barely keep his balance, he was unable to focus, he wouldn't eat or drink (not even for beer, his favorite.) He just kept getting worse so we put him down. I held him in a bear hug while they did it. He didn't even cry.

The week before my best friend Kelly had to out her boxer down because he too was wasting away. His name was Tug and he liked leaning against people and staring at them until they became visibly uncomfortable.

Kelly and I tend to experience tradgedy together. We keep wondering what made us friends in the first place. Was it that we met in middle school sewing class and we were both making awesome food related pillows? That may be part of it but what I think really bonds us is the scope of our life experiences. We understand loss and to appreciate life for what it is. So this post is about appreciating the lives of Tug the Dog and Ozzie the Dog. May you both be harassing poor defenseless people in the afterlife. We miss you and always will.

SORRY!

I am so sorry I haven't been on here in so long. I have been super duper busy with my finals and projects. This is what's new since last I have posted:

  • Made and finished my Zombie Documentary. It's pretty fantastic!
  • Learned a bit more of After Affects
  • Took a test on History of Prime Time TV. It was freaking hard as hell. I think I might have passed
  • Spent 34 hours out of 72 in the computer lab. Did 3 all nighters. Slowly went crazy.
  • Fixed my headlights myself but then figured out it wasn't my headlights that were broken.
  • Saw Star Trek and it was wonderful!
  • Did laundry
  • Took a few showers
  • Got some boo-boos
  • Had an asthma attack sprinting to the final previously stated

My Summer

This is how I think my summer is going to go:

1) Meet people who are subletting for room mates. They are probably creepy and annoying, if not serial killers.

2) Work my life away at Target. Slowly become a hollow shell of a person. Make money though.

3) Plan shooting my senior film in September instead. Which is great because it holds off a nervous breakdown until September.

4) Try and save money to visit Kelly in Costa Rica for a couple days. Maybe hit up L.A while we're at it.

5) Go to NewFoundland to celebrate something, not sure what but everyone will be wasted and trying to dance jigs. It will be awesome.

6) Go crazy hearing stories of everyone having fun with internships and exotic vacations. Brag about plants to make self feel better.

Today I had a nice email chat with one of the producers from the web series Valley Peaks. I had asked him if I could help out sometime, maybe catch a few pointers.  These guys are really good at what they do! He was super cool about it and said that they would love my help, they just aren't sure if there will be another season. This show is so good, say it ain't so! That was when I made it my mission to find some way to get this group some funds. Hey everyone if you have a business that needs advertising or money you wanna donate to a very very very worthy show click here.

Even if I don't get to help out on the show, I feel really lucky to have gotten to know some of the folks involved in the series. They are ridiculously talented and I'm sure we'll work and play together in the future!

GO Valley Peaks!

I was organizing the aisles at work yesterday and I found myself gazing at the products. I was with a friend of mine and he asked what I was looking at. I explained how I was admiring all the beautiful colors that surrounded us. He didn't really understand.

Not enough people stop to enjoy the beauty around them. Just look around at how amazing fog can be. Or all the colors of the sunset. Or how certain things make phenomenal  shadows.

It's nice to find visual aesthetics all around you. It makes the world seem like such a better place!

Ode to PB&F

A poem by me:

Peanut butter of my heart

how you mesh magnificently with fluff

atop cemented grains of wheat

I can never have enough

Whether it be night or day

I will mash you in my teeth

Sometimes you get stuck to my mouth

and my tongue has to unsheath

I try not to get you in my hair

but I have poor motorskills

but it's okay anyway

for you give my tummy lots of thrills

ODE TO PEANUT BUTTER AND FLUFF
