What is Digital Storytelling?

"Digital Storytelling is the modern expression of the ancient art of storytelling. Digital stories derive their power by weaving images, music, narrative and voice together, thereby giving deep dimension and vivid color to characters, situations, experiences, and insights. "

Today's society is over flowing with technology and tools. These tools have come to great uses in helping tell our stories, we can call this digital storytelling.

Where Can it be used?

 Digital stories can simply be used wherever a computer may be handy and most likely where an audience needs to be captivated. Digital stories however serve a great deal of purpose in a classroom situation of all ages, for many purposes....

 

What are the advantages to it's use?

Digital Stories can create amazing and fun uses in a classroom such as:

  • To integrate subject area knowledge into many parts of the curriculum
  • Help to advance literacy
  • Help engage struggling readers and writers
  • Digital story telling can reach to student's at every ability level
  • Provides a different atmosphere as well appeals to the diverse learning styles of students
  • Provokes students in developing and furthering computer skills
  • Contributes in devolping communication skills, as students will ask questions, express opinions and construct narratives.
