JAT 2008 Fall Newsletter

Here we go!
JAT 2008 is ready to start an exciting new season. The team will be led by seven returning riders from our 2007 50th Anniversary Team; 1st Lt Alyx Sidell, 2nd Lt Mariah DeConza, 2nd Lt Elaine MacPherson, 2nd Lt. Carina Villasenor, Plt Sgt Skylar Hudson, Plt Sgt Ayla Swafford, and Stable Sgt Ana Quintanilla. Nine members from the summer development team made the 2008 team, they include; 2nd Lt Jamilah Jabali, Stable Sgt Nick Munoz, Stable Sgt Chelsea Tindell, Cpl Catalina Seufert, Cpl Sarah Stern, Cpl Morgan Wray, TFC Desiree DiLorenzo, TFC Ciarli Hopkins, and TFC Taylor Wachs. Also making the team at try-outs are Cpl Sabrina Galasso, TFC Cassidy Swick, TFC Isabella Torres, and TFC Sophia Torres. Congratulations to this year’s team. Team Commanders this year will be Colonel Nancy Chefalo, Lt. Colonel Jill Kraut, and Major Virginia Muecke.

Our Booster Club this year will be headed by Carol Hudson and Major Virginia Muecke. Parents of team members will organize fundraisers to raise the funds we will need for this season’s competitions. The Boosters keep us well fed while traveling and help us out in a variety of ways.

We will have to work hard to get ready for the first competition of the year, the CSHA California Championships on May 3rd. We have a tough act to follow after last year’s 50th Anniversary Team swept every division they were entered in and also won the overall Grand Championship Title. A few weeks after CSHA we will head for Reno Nevada for the Western States Drill Competition then finish up the competitive season close to home at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center at the E.T.I. Drill competition. It will be a busy season with practices, raising funds, and attending competitions. Colonel Chefalo, Major Muecke and I look forward to working with this year’s enthusiastic team and seeing just how far we can go!

January/February 2005 Newsletter

The Junior Advanced Troop began riding again right after the 1st of the year. We are excited about our team this year and hope to do well in all of our competitions and exhibitions.

Our first competition will be in Turlock, CA on May 14th at the California State Championships. We then have Reno in June and Burbank in July. We have been very busy with fundraisers trying to get a fast start on the money issue. We are doing well and have a number of activities lined up. We have candy sales, garage sales, scratchers, car washes and a number of “agility dog shows” lined up, as well as our weekly practices to become the greatest ever! So we are busy, busy, busy.

We would like to welcome all of our new members; Plt. Sgt. Brenda Stadelmann from troop I, Stb. Sgt. Elaine MacPherson from troop S, Corporal Marissa Cleek from troop A, Corporal Alexis Kiefer from troop D, and Corporal Kiara Roberts from troop S. We would also like to thank Captains, Michelle Peterson, Julie Sonntag, Erin Shelley and Jeremy Miller for helping Major Janet Johnstone and me this year.
