I provide an entirely free of charge service to members of Leek Amateur Swimming Club. (Usually not below the age of 12 years). The type of support they have is individually developed to suit their individual needs. I use my existing skills and also incorporate recognised activities, programmes and sporting performance tools. Swimmers choosing to take advantage of my support will always have the right to participate at the level they wish to and will never, under any circumstances, be asked to participate in any part of a programme that they feel they do not wish to. All swimmers will need to gain both parental and swimming coach approval and support before making contact.
Part of a programme is taken from Craig Townsend, Dip. Clin. Hyp. Craig has worked with National and State level swimmers in Australia for over a decade teaching them various methods of improvement through mental training. His powerful programme has had impressive results in swimmers of all levels. He supports the use of relaxation and visualisation and has led the way in mental training for swimmers.

Handling Pressure
The ability to handle pressure before and during competition is crucial to success. Swimmers can learn how to handle pressure, manage stress and control emotions with this programme.
Improving Concentration
Keeping your concentration levels consistent during sport is a challenge for every performer. Swimmers can use the eight practical sample programmes in this package to help them successfully build on their performance.
Imagery Training
Imagery training is widely used in professional sport. The technique works because the mind controls your body movements. This programme is for athletes of all abilities and explains the theory and also includes 18 exercises to build into their weekly training programme.
Building Self Confidence
Many factors contribute to sports performance. In addition to the physical, technical and strategic demands of sport, performers must be able to remain focused, maintain control, sustain self-confidence, and constantly apply themselves in both training and competition. In swimming as in any sport, there are many mental demands. Meeting these demands may be relatively easy when things are going well but less so during times of difficulty (eg poor form, distractions, disappointments, injury). Confidence plays a crucial role in success in sport. Building Self Confidence helps performers to develop, maintain and if necessary, restore confidence. It explores the use of goal setting, imagery, positive self talk and routines to help performers develop and maintain a positive attitude and healthy belief in themselves and their own ability.
