"King Crimson, Depeche Mode meet Miles Davis..." This London-based duo spellbinds their fast growing audience with their unique sound and lyrics, powerfully stimulating the listener with an eclectic blend of jungle, drum'n'bass, rock, jazz and orchestral sounds. Their lyrics are a visual whirlwind journey sweeping the mind in an instant from one mystical, philosphical, esoteric, political or historical world into another. Ruah's music is equally powerful in their live performance as it is on CD. Although they are using guitar synthesizer and electronic drums, nothing is recorded in the studio that they cannot play live. Having tested their programme successfully in live performances in the London circuit since May 2002, Ruah are now in the final stages of recording their album in preparation for their Autumn 2003 European Tour. "Ruah is unique -- especially as it's a two-man band. It's refreshing not to have the bass, for instance. There's a nice spaciousness in the music. And plenty of room for two excellent musicians to stretch out. Some of the feel has the "epic" quality and time signatures, etc., of prog rock of the 70s. However, the stellar production and arrangement - and in particular the drum/percussion sound - mark it as 21st century." Scott Wheatley, Los Angeles |
