The begining
The Utonagan is a relatively new, man-made breed. About 18 years ago, a breeder wanted to create a dog which looked as much like a wolf as possible. The Utonagan came about by breeding German Shepherds, Alaskan Malamutes and Siberian Huskies together.
The Utonagan has been selectively bred to look as close to the Timber Wolf as possible, with an exlemplary temperament
As you can see, we have a Wolf-look-alike dog, without wolf content. Which are becoming ever popular
.Like wolves they enjoy being part of a pack, so they like to live with others dogs. They don't like being left alone for long periods of time and are very loyal members of a family.
The Utonagan has a great love of children of all ages. Unlike the Siberian Huskie and Alaskan Malamute the Utonagan prey drive is not as high .... some may still chase small furries .... Many live quite happly with Cats and many other small animals.
