Other Pc Pranks

The unclickable icons

If the person you’re playing the prank to isn’t very good with computers, or if he or she isn’t in the mood to get to the bottom of little jokes, this one will be an instant success. Playing it isn’t hard at all.

First, minimize all your windows and create (or drag) a couple icons in it. Be sure you won’t need these icons later. Position them on the desktop, then press the “Print Screen” button. Go to any image editor (MS Paint works just fine), and paste the screenshot from your clipboard (CTRL + V, or Edit -> Paste). Save the image, then delete the icons that you have put on the desktop (again, be sure they’re not very important). Now set the image you saved as a wallpaper. You’ll see the icons just where you left them, but you can’t click, move or delete them.

The “Reversed buttons” prank

I’m not sure this works on all Windows versions, but it’s worth giving a shot. Simply enter your Control Panel, open your Mouse Settings, browse it until you find a box that allows you to modify the mouse buttons’ functions. This way the left button will right click and the right button will left click. Confusing, huh? Imagine how confused your victim will be.

The Autocorrect joke

This is as easy as pie, but you have to know the person you’ll be playing the prank on a bit. If he or she uses a text editor (let’s say Microsoft Office), open it, go to the AutoCorrect Options, and make it so that it replaces ordinary words with… anything you like. Here’s the box that should appear in Office 2003:

The “Keyboard not present. Press F1 to continue” prank

It’s not too difficult, and you don’t need to know a lot PC operating to do it. Just look in the back of your PC unit, find the mouse and the keyboard and simply switch their places. This way, when a person boots the computer, it will show an error message, telling him that no keyboard is present. But strangely, the wires aren’t ripped out…

(This only works on PS/2 keyboards & mice)

The randomkey joke

This is the first of the two ready-made pranks, that you just need to run. This application types a random key every minute. It’s really annoying when you type a big file. Download the randomkey file here. To disable it, reboot your PC.

These are just some examples of pranks you can play on your friends. Of course, you could play even tougher, meaner ones, with more permanent damage, but that would ruin the fun for the victim. What pranks do you play on your friends?

Random Key

Random Key

Random Key is a prank program that will type a random letter or number every 60 seconds on the subject's computer. To disable, reboot.

If you want to make it start up with Windows, either add it to the startup folder or to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.

The Finger

The Finger v1.01  FREE!

The Finger will have you laughing for hours! Launch The Finger on an unsuspecting user and watch their reaction when the cursor changes to the middle finger and then back to normal again. By default The Finger runs hidden in Windows and will switch the mouse cursor to a finger every 5 seconds, but you can configure how often the cursor will change by passing the word "setup" on the command line. To stop The Finger from changing the mouse cursor, simply move the mouse cursor to the top left corner of the screen and it will restore your mouse cursor and close. This is a must have joke program for the serious prankster. Click here to download The Finger v1.01 .

Command line options for The Finger:

Pass the word SETUP on the command line to configure this program yourself.

For example:
"C:\MY STUFF\FINGER.EXE" setup

You can also use the command line interface to specify the number of seconds of delay between each flash of the finger. For example:

"C:\MY STUFF\FINGER.EXE" 30

This would pause 30 seconds between each flip of the normal cursor and the finger.

Not sure what a command line is or how to use it? See our Support FAQ

How to close The Finger:

Move your mouse pointer to the TOP LEFT corner of your screen. This will stop the program from running in memory. If you have successfully moved your mouse in the correct position, the program will close and display an About Box Screen. Once you close this screen, the program will exit. Exiting the software will allow Windows to delete the file.

To run The Finger you are required to have:
Mouse
The Finger will only work successfully on these specific Windows operating systems:
Windows 95  Windows 98  Windows ME  Windows NT  Windows 2000  Windows 2003  Windows XP  Windows Vista

Have you ever been working in Windows and a small annoying Clippy assistant appeared? We have too, that is why we created this prank software called Clippy. Clippy is a simulated office assistant that, when ran, will hide in the background for 1 minute then popup in the lower right hand corner of the screen and say something useless. There is no right-click Hide option on our Clippy prank, you will think there is no way to get rid of it (but there is). Every minute, Clippy pops up spouting useless nonsense about your computer. Clippy looks exactly like the annoying Clippy assistant you are used to, complete with sound and a variable size hint box based on the size of the hint.

That is not all! Clippy comes with a dozen or so default messages, but Clippy can be customized to fit your needs. You can create a clippy.txt file within the same directory as Clippy and when loaded, it will read this file to figure out which hints to blurt to the screen. The possibilities are endless. By default, Clippy will randomly read this file to get a line of text. However, there is another option that will tell Clippy not to read it randomly. You can have Clippy ask a series of questions, in order, to really confuse someone. If Clippy encounters a question mark (?) within the line of text, it will display a hint box with YES NO options that can be clicked.

Clippy is a hilarious computer prank that will have you laughing for hours.

Send Self-Destructing Emails

How to Send Self-Destructing Emails

2008-01-08
Ever sent an email you later regretted writing? We all have, but it can be especially bad when those emails are sent to the wrong person or get leaked on the Internet. You might not know this, but there are many providers that offer self destructing email services. These services give you complete control over who reads them, how long they exist, or whether they can be printed, copied, or forwarded. Hey, you don't have to be a secret agent to send self-destructing emails, just a very smart geek with a reputation to maintain, so check out what these sites can do for you:

Will Self-Destruct:
This service is free. There's no sign up process, but you have to fill out a
web-based form with the recipient's email address, subject, and your message.
The recipient receives an email with a link to a web page containing your
message. Once the link is accessed, a countdown begins, and the message is
destroyed. The email itself looks like spam, so make sure you tell your friend
to expect something from willselfdestruct.com.
SDMessage and
Destructing Message are two
similar alternatives.

KickNotes: Another web-based service
that sends self-destructing messages after filling out a form. You can actually
control the times the message can be viewed or how long you want the message to
exist. Once the message is created, you can either send a link to a web page
through your own email address or from KickNotes.

These sites can be useful if you want to send password or other important information that you don't want other people to see.
