Lodge Street Films

Redefining the look of film from behind the camera

A New Kind of Company . . .

Lodge Street Films is an independent company geared toward the advancement of women and minorities in the film and television industry. Based in the greater D.C. metropolitan area, Lodge Street Films seeks to provide insight and opportunities for students in the form of training, academia, and creative forum. Because Lodge Street Films is a partnership between students, freelance filmmakers and industry professionals, we will have the ability to shape minds both by reflection and reaction.

In 2006, the percentage of women employed by the Director's Guild of America was a staggering 8.7%; and the number of minorities were an even smaller percentage. These are just examples of some of the statistics we want to improve upon in the near future. For years Hollywood has been the center of it all, but lately the film world has expanded. From the eastern metropolitan areas all the way to small-town America, knowledge of film and television careers have gradually become more visible in high schools and colleges. What the industry needs now is a broader spectrum of talent and the opportunities created by Lodge Street Films' three proposed programs are sure to be revolutionary.

Equality is our top priority
, Lodge Street Films is about creating and empowering synergy across many cultures so we are excited to work with everybody. We, as a company geared at equality, welcome all people no matter what race, class, gender, creed, sexual orientation, color, ethnicity, or religion.

Our Current Project

The Frame . . . written and directed by Jamelle Thomas

The Frame tells a story about the power of compassion, how love and family can help even the most lost find their way. We follow Nicole Stevens through her junior year of high school dealing with the death of her parents, her seemingly hopeless living situation, and her battle against a fatalistic view of the future. The outcome seems hopeless until Karen Wilson, a new teacher, stumbles into her life, but will Karen's compassion be enough to pull Nicole up the high road and save her from a harsher reality?
