*About Transcending*
I named this listing 'Transcending' because Jamie and Aurelia's love was strong enough to transcend the language barrier. It was there from the beginning; a special connection between the two. Something that eventually lead them to learn the tongue of the other (in more ways than one)! Love transcends all barriers.
*About Jamie and Aurelia*
The love story between Jamie and Aurelia in Love Actually was one of the most endearing and touching to me. In the beginning, Jamie is very much in love with his significant other. However, he finds out that she has been cheating on him; and with his brother, no less! Heartbroken, Jamie heads to his retreat to write a novel. He is in need of a housekeeper and Aurelia comes to work for him. When they are introduced, we find that Aurelia is Portuguese and speaks very little, if no English. Jamie attempts to speak to her in various different languages - none of which are actually Portuguese. This scene is so sweet and funny. Throughout their time together, we see Jamie and Aurelia talking to each other in their own respective languages. Neither can understand the other, but we as viewers know that they are building a bond and relaying to each other the same things. In this sense, they don't have to worry about being shy around each other, because they do not know what the other is saying. Aurelia eventually goes home, and Jamie begins taking Portuguese lessons. On Christmas, he flies out to tell Aurelia that he loves her and to ask for her hand in marriage. The scene builds into a very flamboyant and touching moment in the restaurant where Aurelia is working. She accepts his (Portuguese) marriage proposal in English and they fall into each other's arms and kiss passionately.
