Welcome!

Some of my ideas for a county commissioner:

1. Attract corporate business offices, industrial sites, and retail businesses to Williamson County. 

  • Continue to build the infrastructure, drainage systems, and utilities
  • Streamline construction requirements, subdivision platting, and zoning rules
  • Make sure all county efforts flow smoothly with the efforts of city governing bodies.

2. Plan for more efficient communities to reduce the need for driving.

  • Actively encourage high-density multi-use development.
  • Develop concept of micro communities where housing, retail, social, and office developments are all kept in walking distance.
  • Build safe places to walk and ride.

3. Treat current land owners as fairly as possible as the county grows and infrastructure is built up to handle new communities and traffic.

  • Preference building new roads over significantly widening existing roads such as Hwy 29.
  • Educate and support landowners on their rights in cases where eminent domain might be used.
  • Resist the Trans Texas corridor because it will steal valuable land frontage to the new road away from land owners.

4. Create an environment where small and independently owned businesses thrive and help maintain our community's culture and uniqueness.

· Make sure taxes paid by small businesses are not used to subsidize the arrival of new competition.

· Upgrade utilities and revamp development rules in existing business areas to encourage higher population densities near those businesses.

 

5. Make all affairs of the Williamson county government open, fair, and efficient.

· Move commissioners court to more accessible time of day for working citizens.

· Eliminate dress code, and any other rules, that might impede citizens from participation.

· Use automated recording systems instead of court room journalists.

· Reduce use of county vehicles by employees to commute to work.

· Continue to move county functions and distribution of information to the internet, including bid proposals and notices.

· Re-evaluate the costs/benefits of our immigrant detention center.
