A Good Heart
This story begins with a man who had anything in the world you would want. He had a beautiful wife that he loved and adored. He had two great children to whom he would give his life for. He had a nice house in the better part of town, and a fancy car. Keep in mind, he wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He got what he had by being responsible and working hard. Sometimes he would work from daylight until dark to give his family what they wanted. He thought, there is no sacrifice I wouldn't make to take care of my family.
One day he came home and told his wife he had lost his job. He told her not to worry, he was sure he would find a new position soon. He went out everyday and put in applications, and went to interviews. This went on for months, and he still hadn't found a job yet. One day when he came home, his wife approached him with a worried look. She expressed her frustration and disappointment in no uncertain terms. He said honey don't worry, something will come up, I am doing all I can.
A few days later he came home to find his wife and children were gone. She left a short note that said, I can't take this any more, the children and I are gone, goodbye. He sat down and wept for the longest time. After awhile he pulled himself together, and went to check the mail. In the mailbox was a fore closer notice on his nice house. Having a positive out look, he thought, things will be better tomorrow. The next morning he was awakened by a noise outside. He ran out only to see a tow truck leaving with his car. There was a note on the door stating, due to non-payment, your car in being reposed.
Less than a month later he was walking the streets, and living in an alley. Sometimes he would go for days without eating anything. And when he did eat, it was because he would do chores for people for a dollar or two. So many times he would give the money to another homeless person. He would think ,I believe they may need this more than I do. One day after not eating for a long time he did some chores and made three dollars. He said to himself, I will save this for tonight and have a good meal. While sitting in the alley pondering what he would eat, A man came up to him. The man was raggedy and dirty, he looked like a bum. The bum said mister, do you have any spare change? I haven't eaten since this morning. Without hesitation he pulled out three dollars and gave it to the bum. The bum walked away without so much as saying thank you.
The next day two men approached him with nice suits and sunglasses on and said ,come with us. Thinking they were the FBI or something he said, what have I done? I have done nothing wrong. They said don't ask any questions, just come with us and get in the car. So he did as they instructed and got in the back seat of their car. They drove for a while and pulled in the driveway of this enormous mansion. IT was the most beautiful place he had ever seen. They lead him into this gigantic room and told him to have a seat. After he sat down the two men left the room, and closed the doors. A little while later a woman came in with a big platter full of food, and sit it in front of him. Without saying a word, she turned and walked out of the room. He still hadn't eaten in days, so he ate everything on the platter.
An hour or so later a man came walking into the room. He looked up and saw the man and was in shock! It was the same bum he had given the three dollars to the night before. Although the man was clean cut and dressed nice, he was sure he was the same bum. The man walked over to him and handed him a check for one million dollars. The man ask him if he thought that would get him back on his feet. He said it sure will! but why are you doing this? The man proceeded to tell him about the time when he and his family had no home. The man said they had nothing, and no one lifted a hand to help them. The man continued to say that was when he realized a lot of people don't have a good heart. The man said I have been watching you for sometime now. I have seen how you put other people before yourself. I have observed how you will give your last dime to a stranger, and go hungry. Last night was the final test, when you gave me all the money you had, and done without. That was when I knew for sure you were a man with a good heart. The moral of this story is, a good heart always pays off...
Love At First Sight
There was this woman who had never known real love. She accepted it, and settled for the way her life was. She was plain according to some people's standards. she was humble and always gave someone in need a helping hand. If someone called her in desperation she was always there to help. She had a lot of compassion, and a kind heart. But she often yearned for a love on her own.
One day she was walking down the street, and dropped the groceries she was carrying. As she knelt and began to pick up her bags, she saw two other hand there helping her to pick them up. As she looked up, she saw the face of the most gorgeous man she had ever seen. In a nervous voice, she said thank you so much. He replied no problem, and went on his way. She watched until him until he disappeared out of sight. She knew it love at first sight, at least for her. Then she came to herself, and thought, he would never give the time of day to someone like me. So she took her groceries and sadly went home. She thought about him a lot that night and said to herself, this is silly. After all I don't even know the man, and a man like that is probably married.
A week so later she was in the supermarket again. As she was walking down one of the isles there he was, in plain sight. Her heart was racing like crazy as she was walking by him. When he seen her, he said, aren't you the lady I helped with your bags out on the sidewalk? She said nervously, yes you are, and thank you very much. They talked for a long time, and she became less nervous. She thought, he is not only gorgeous,but he is so nice to talk to. Then suddenly he ask her if she would like to go to dinner on the following saturday night. she said without hesitation, yes I would! they exchanged phone numbers, and he said I will call you. So as they parted and went their separate ways she thought,he won't call, he was only being nice.
But to her surprise, he called on saturday around noon. He said, give me your address, and I will pick you up around seven. When she hung the phone up, she was so excited, she danced all around the house. She spent the rest of the day getting ready for her date. I bet that woman changed clothes ten times, until she found the right outfit. She was watching the clock with anticipation until seven o'clock came.
Right at seven the door bell rang, and when she answered the door, there he stood. He had brought flowers, and she thanked him and put them in water before they left. When they got to the restaurant, she seen how romantic it was, they were playing soft music. After they were seated, and ordered their food they began to eat. As they were eating, suddenly he stopped and said, I have a confession to make to you and you may think it is silly. She swallowed hard and said what is it? He said when I first met you, it was love at first sight for me. She smiled and said, that's not silly, it was love at first for me too. Two months they were married and lived happily ever after. So I suppose it was love at first sight.
