 A Young Soldier's Surprise

This story is about a young soldier who fell in love with this lovely young lady. He was only nineteen at the time, and she was seventeen. He had recently finished basic training, and was home on leave when he met her. They were so in love, and they spent every minute they could together. He loved being in the marines, but he dreaded the day when he would have to leave her. Well, that day came when he got a notice that he was going to be sent out of state for more extensive training. They were both brokenhearted when they had to say goodbye to each other. But they promised to write, e-mail, and call each other as often as they could. He would get so excided when he heard from her, and likewise, she felt the same way. It seemed like he was gone forever, but finally he got to come home again.
She was right there at the airport to meet him when he stepped off the plane. They ran to each other, and he held her tight for what seemed like a long time. On the way home he ask her if she would marry him. She said I will think about it, paused for a moment, and then laughed and said, of course I will silly. Their families wanted them to have a big wedding, and a fancy reception. He didn't know when he would be called back to active duty, or where they would send him. So they got married the next day, and just had a simple ceremony. They spent their honeymoon in a motel for one whole weekend. After that, they rented a small apartment, and moved in right away. About six weeks later he came home with a sad look on his face. He told her he had some news to tell her, and she said excitedly, I have some news to tell you too, but you go first. He hesitated for a moment, and then he told her he got his new orders, and he was going  to be shipped over to Iraq in less than a week. He also explained to her that he would be gone for at least one year. She sit down and put her hands over her face, that wasn't the news she wanted to hear. He waited for a minute, and then said, so tell me what your news is. She looked up at him with teary eyes and said, I found out today that I am pregnant. He put his arms around her, and with an encouraging smile said, that thrills me, I am so happy. And don't you see, that gives me that much more to fight for.
About a week later they had to say goodbye again, and she watched him leave until  he was completely out of sight. As the months rolled by, when they talked he would always ask her how her and the baby were doing. She would smile and say, I am doing fine, and so is the baby. One day she went to the doctor for a ultrasound, to find out what gender the baby  was. After she had the ultrasound the doctor came in the room and said, I have what may be some shocking news for you. She had a terrified look on her face when she said, is our baby ok? The doctor smiled and said yes, as a matter of fact, all three of them are. You are going to give birth to triplets, and all three are little girls. At first she couldn't wait to tell the young soldier this news and then she decided not to. She knew the pressure he was under in Iraq, and she didn't want him to be distracted. She realized he would worry about her taking care of three babies on her own. She thought she would wait until he came home to tell him.
Nine months exactly from the day she got pregnant, she gave birth to three beautiful baby girls. They were a handful, but her family and his family helped her with the babies for the next few months. when the young soldier's tour of duty was over, she was there to greet him just like the first time. Except this time she had three little companions with her. When he got off the plane and  came through the gate, he saw her and three strollers in front of her. He looked and seen each stroller had a baby in it. He looked at her and said, which one of these babies belongs to us? She paused for a moment, and then laughed and said, all three of them silly. He stood there for awhile with his mouth open, and a surprised look on his face. Then he leaped for joy, kissed all three babies, and held her tight for the longest time again. Then he shouted! this is the best homecoming gift a soldier could ever receive.....

 Up Town Girl

I once knew this woman who lived in a dinky little trailer park. She grew up dirt poor, and never had anything to speak of. Most of her family were alcoholics, and never amounted to very much. They would Beg, borrow, steal, and anything else they had to do to survive, except work that is. She had dealt with that her whole life, and she was determined not to turn out that way. She felt like if she would work hard, be honest, and true to her word, someday she would accomplish her goal. But for now, she was working two jobs and still barely kept the bills paid. One of her jobs was working part time at a carwash for minimum wages. And she was a waitress at a local restaurant, where she depended on her tips to survive.
Sometimes she would drive up town to a classy neighborhood, and sit in her old car and day dream. She would look around at all the beautiful homes, and try to imagine what it would be like to live there. Her mind would drift off to pretend land, and her fantasy was living in one of those houses with a normal family. She thought to herself, I don't know how, but someday I will live in a place like this. Then she would drive back to her world in the little dinky trailer park. Reality would sit in, and she  continued to work  at her two jobs, and struggle to pay the bills.
She had written off men, because every one she went with or dated was just like her family, and she wanted no part of that. This man started coming to the restaurant where she worked, and would always sit at one of her tables. He was ordinary and there was nothing distinctive looking about him. But he was pleasant, and always left her a big tip. After awhile he started asking her out to dinner, and although she was polite, she would always say no. But one thing I have to say, he was persistent and wasn't about to give up. So finally one night she accepted his invitation and went to dinner with him. As they ate and talked, it didn't take her long to see that he was nothing like her family, or the men she had been use to. After dating for several months, he called her one night, and ask her to marry him. He caught her off guard and she said, I will have to think about that, and hung up the phone. She stayed awake all night thinking about his proposal. She assumed he was like her and didn't have much, after all he had been to her trailer and thought it was real nice. Then She figured with her income and his, they could fix up the trailer and at least she would have better life.
A few days later she cooked and invited him over to her trailer for dinner. She told him she had thought long and hard about his proposal, and that she would marry him. She went on about how they could fix up her old trailer, and make a half-way decent home. He said if that is what you want I would live anywhere with you, but I may have a better idea. He said, I will show you where I live and then you can can decide which place you want to will live. The next day he took her up town to one of those classy neighborhoods, and parked in the driveway of a gorgeous home. She was shocked as she said, are you telling me this is where you live? He said yes, I have lived here for abot six years. She said wow! this place is beautiful, what do you do for a living anyway? (they had never discussed that). He replyed, I am a lawyer, and I have my own practice up town. they got married and all her dreams came true, now she is a up town girl.....
