In 1991, a small group of friendly West Indian Palm Beach County residents began to informally meet on a regular basis in various locations, mostly in churches, throughout
The meetings brought people together for the purpose of sharing common cultural interest.
This small group saw the need to serve as a central resource and referral organization for new arrivals. The group began to educate new arrivals about the availability of various human services offered in and around
This small group became known as Jamaicans of the Palm Beaches,inc. ( Herein after referred to as the Center ) was incorporated as a non-profit organization in June 1992.
In 1993, the Center began to expand its efforts to improve the immunization status of the school children in our community. The Center became the primary facilitator and coordinator of Health Fairs that would bring a free immunization program directly to communities in which their families lived.
The Center continued to meet in various churches and other friendly neighborhood settings, up until October of 2000, when they moved into their present location at
The Center continues to facilitate, in full cooperation with the Palm Beach county Childhood Immunization Coalition, with Kommen Foundation, American Lung Association, and Allegany, at least one Health Fair per year. At each Health fair a new component is added
Although the club mainly focuses on community out reach programs, it also maintains a fun loving atmosphere and has numerous other activities throughout the year.
