Over
the past few years "Jack" have been seen by varied audiences in
many places and always managed to build increasing popularity. During
this period its members have numbered over 50 musicians, although
seldom more than 5 at any one time. Each musician has added his or her
own flare and style creating mixtures which have included many local hero's
and the occasional "name"!! Many have their own bands, but occasionally
rejoin for an evening or a 'special'. Even John Slaughter offered his
services
on one occasion.
Above all the band members are always seen to be enjoying what they are
playing and something new comes out of the bag at every performance. This
has had the effect of keeping audience interest building until the final
encore.
"Can we go home yet??" always gets a "Noooo!"
The current line up features what many agree is a rather special blend
of R&B,
Rock and Blues. Lee on drums fits a cracking back line with Lee’s
backing
vocals and tantalising bass guitar runs. The diverse lead guitar sounds
from Kimberley
with his expressive “Original Rock n’ Roll” driving
feel, blend so well with John’s
delightful BB King/Stevie Ray styles that belie his age as the youngest
band member..
Original and well-loved cover material takes on a surprisingly new sound
with Roger's strong bluesy voice doing most of the fronting.
All in all this particular homegrown variety of "Jack"
are well worth a visit.
