Jackalhead Rattery

Welcome to Jackalhead Rattery, where the rats rule. My name is Michele and I own Jackalhead Rattery.

Jackalhead is the fourth fancy rat rattery in South Africa and is located in Joostenbergvlakte, Cape Town. The rattery was established in January 2007 and although I had other 'local' rats, my first fancy rat was Runebound Anubis, a Himalayan Berkshire Dumbo buck. His grandparents were among the first fancy rats to be imported from the USA by Moonstones Rattery.

My goal is to breed fancy rats that are bright of colour, excellent of temprement and true of type. My rats are only bred from 4 months and upwards, to determine health and temprement. All kits are very tame and handled from a very early age.

I breed mostly Siamese, Himalayan, Burmese and Blue, but do occasionally have other colours available.

I also do rescues, so occasionally have non-pedigree rats available.
