A few weeks ago, we found out that my very vital 81 year old father has pancreatic cancer. This has been such a shock and heartache for all of our family. My mother is also 81 and is trying very hard to keep her spirits up while she takes care of my dad and finds a way through this heartbreaking time.
I am so very blessed to have the parents that I do. I was adopted when I was 4 days old. I was such a lucky baby. My parents have both been healthy and active up until this time. They danced, traveled, kept up with the grandkids and have always been the center of our family.
My brother and his family and my husband, children and grandchildren are all trying to keep each other's spirits up as we go through this together.
If you read my blog or come to my site, please say a prayer for my father. I'm afraid the cancer is too far progressed that he has any chance with surgery or chemo but please pray for him to accept this challenge as he has accepted so many in his life and to help our family cope with what may lay ahead. Blessings to you all.
What a surprise when my friend, Mary, came over last Tuesday night with two of my books she had ordered for her and her sister and asked me to autograph them! What a great feeling! I even had a special purple pen that my husband, Michael, had given me for my birthday just for that type of occasion. I was so excited, I felt like a "star" even though I wasn't BUT it was fun pretending to be one that night! Color me happy!
I was lucky enough to get an article written about me and my new book in our company newsletter this month, Headline News (Medical Practice Association, UKSM-W). The following is from the online paper dated January 2007. I really appreciate their support.
An Author in the MPA!Judy Blair, Newborn Screening Services, Pediatrics, is being published as a first time author. Her book, Mirrored in Time, is a fictional account of a recently widowed woman who finds herself able to return to the 1890s and back to the present. Her life is turned upside down by trying to live two lives, discovering heartbreaking secrets and disturbing lies. Ultimately, this is a story of a woman finding out who she is, whom she loves, and how she is connected to both eras and times.
Judy says that she has been working on this book for a couple of years, although she has been writing stories since she was eight. She started this book as a direct result of a conversation with Greg Gilbert, a former employee in Human Resources at KUSM-W, after one of his Human Resource seminars. Accordingly, Judy has mentioned him and his encouragement in the acknowledgements at the beginning of the book.
Mirrored in Time, by Judy A. Blair, is currently available in softcover for $27.95 (retail $34.95) at www.publishamerica.com (ISBN number 1-4241-4033-1).
