HOLLYOAKS TURNS UP THE HEAT, AFTER HOURS

HOLLYOAKS is to broadcast four late night special episodes from Monday 5th July – Thursday 8th July on Channel 4 (time tbc), featuring a guest appearance by model/actress Caprice. HOLLYOAKS AFTER HOURS will complement the regular shows (which will continue five days a week at 6.30pm, with the Sunday omnibus at 10.30am).

This article was only a short piece which referred to Elize’s farewell party. As the paper recalled an argument broke out between Elize and her boyfriend (Who plays Tony Hutchinson) at a farewell party for Elize. As it has now been confirmed that Elize will be leaving the show in the near future. The argument was said to have been about the attention that her boyfriends was paying to “anything in a skirt” which did not include Elize. She argued that even though it was her party that her boyfriend shad paid no attention to her at all, but seem rather interested in the other woman in the room.

Playing a feisty neurotic is al in a day’s work for lifesavers supporter and on screen lifeguard manager Elize Du Toit, who plays Izzy Cornwell/Davies in teen soap drama Hollyoaks. In fact it’s more like six day’s work thanks to the punishing filming schedule, which ensures Hollyoaks appears on our screens five times a week and in a Sunday omnibus format.

“We start filming at 7:45am and it often carries on until 8pm” says Elize, who got the part of posh Izzy after attending an audition in Edinburgh whilst studying History at the city’s university.

Three years, and a cartload of relationships later her character Izzy, has finally opted for the quiet life with fireman Ben Davies who is played by Marcus Patric.

“We spend so much time on set together we often end up bickering like an old married couple.” Elize said.

Throughout her time in Hollyoaks Elize has spent many years filming in and around the swimming pool on the soaps college campus. Most recently Izzy has been made manager of the leisure centre body boost and spends her time bringing aquatic order to the pool. Thankfully for Elize spending time at the pool is a pleasure not a problem.

“I like going to the gym and then swim around 50 lengths to cool off.” Elize said.

So does she share anything in common with her character?

“On the positive side she’s very strong and determined, which is something we share. On the downside she’s very bossy a bit crazy and neurotic. She’s quite a character and all her bad traits are over-exaggerated to keep her interesting” Elize said.

Early morning s and the media spotlight have done nothing to dull Elize’s enthusiasm for acting.

It’s a really good place to work, we all get on well, both the cast and the crew.” She said.

“On the downside the long hours and the demanding schedule can take its toll. The filming schedule means you have to be constantly on top form with no let up. You simply can’t say that you’re having a bad day”. She added.

Playing the role of Izzy has also involved some interesting tasks over the years.

“One of the coolest things I’ve had to do was learn scuba diving for a storyline where we swam with sharks. At the moment me and Marcus are learning how to ride horses for a future episode.” Elize said.

Off screen Elize is currently single and lives alone, although in the past has shared a house in Liverpool, where Hollyoaks is filmed, with Sarah Baxendale who plays Ellie Mills and Ali Bastian who play Becca Hayton.

It seems that Izzy will continue to grace our screens and entertain us with her aristocratic arrogance for quite a while yet.

“At the moment I am still really enjoying playing Izzy and the future is a matter of

wait and see.”
