Thanks to everyone who has left a message!
The world in which we live is a very fragile place. Actually - thats pathetic- its far from fragile, its being ripped into bits by our politicians, corporate companies, obsession with fuel
all the things that are going to keep our generation alive and well are being slowly eaten away by the greed of human beings- and who is going to suffer?
WE ARE.
Our generation is the first whose children are predicted to live longer than us. Lets outline some nice little facts, shall we?
- 80 per cent of major rainforest valleys on the coast of BC have been degraded or destroyed by logging.
- Worldwide water use is doubling every 20 years twice the rate of population growth.
- Each year air pollution causes premature deaths of 16,000 Canadians.
- Climate change is making forests drier, increasing the threat of forest fire and damaging the habitat of many species.
- An increase in natural disasters from global warming could cost the world more than $300 billion annually by the year 2050 due to greater incidence of flooding.
- By 2025, two thirds of the worlds population will not have enough water.
- In Indonesia, the largest population of Orangutans in the world has shrunk from 12,000 in 1993 to fewer than 6,000 today.
- the five hottest years on record have all occurred since 1997 and the 10 hottest years since 1990.
But dont get to worried.Im not trying to scare you here, only trying to get a point across. I cant change the world. Neither can you, but at least we can try. There is no point in trying to get everyone to live the right way- unless by example. And if your up for it, we can set that example.
