Training the Drives

Before you take your scope to look under the stars, you have to train and calibrate the drives. On more recent versions of autostar, the scope automatically calibrates the motors when it is first turned on. To train however, you first have to take the scope outside. On the autostar menu, go to Setup> Drives. First, select Train RA/ALT. It will tell you to center a terrestrial object, such as a tree branch in the eyepiece. Then the scope will slew away from the object. After it stops it will tell you to re-center the object using the < key on the control pad. It will then slew in the opposite direction, telling you this time to center using the > key. Repeat the same process under the Dec/Az option. It will then be completed
