The Forest and the Plan
````````````````````````````````````
Thatch sighed as he walked over to the hut he had been staying at on Beige Island. He had decided to stay and get some training before his first gym battle. He stepped into the hut and pulled out a fishingline, pole, and some bait and walked outside. He picked out a spot on the beach, which had a huge gray rock that he could sit on while he fished.
Thatch then released Evan and Orca upon the beach. Evan stretched his legs out and began to playfully chase a Butterfree that was flying over the beach. Orca yawned and crawled away from the waves, then fell asleep. Meanwhile, Thatch prepaired his fishing pole and baited the end, then threw it into the ocean waves. Thatch then waited for something to come along and bite.
Evan chased the Butterfree to the edge of Biege Forest, which wasn't very far from the beach at all. The Butterfree then entered the forest. Evan hesitated, glancing back to see Thatch was concentrating on his fishing pole. Evan then ran into the forest after the Butterfree. He ran between the trees, dodging fallen branches and tree stumps as he ran.
The Butterfree noticed the Eevee following it, and let out a flurry of stun spore. Evan stopped in his tracks and watched as the yellow flurry of powder came towards him. He covered his head with his front paws, waiting for the powder to paralyze him. Evan began to close his eyes, when he noticed a blur coming from the trees. The blur went back and forth from tree to tree and Evan watched as the blur came towards him.
Evan covered his head and closed his eyes again in fear that the blur would harm him, but then he felt something pick him up. He opened his eyes and noticed that he was racing away from the powder at top speed. Evan looked at what was holding him, and discovered that it was a brown-colored racoon type Pokemon that had  four arms.
The Pokemon raced through the forest and didn't stop untill he had reached the edge, which was near the beach. The pokemon set Evan down, then ran away again as fast as he had come. Evan watched as the blur ran through the forest untill he could no longer see it. Evan then turned around and found Thatch exactly as he had been before. Thatch still had yet to catch anything as Evan walked over to the rock where Thatch was sitting.
Thatch then felt a tug at his line, and grabbed the pole tightly as he began to reel his catch in. Thatch felt the pole almost slip out of his hands, but he gripped it tightly and pulled with all of his might. The line gave way, and Thatch pulled a Seaking from the ocean waves. The Seaking landed upon the beach and stared angrily at Thatch. Evan opened an eye to see the large fish bouncing back towards the ocean.
"Evan, don't let that Seaking get away!" Thatch called out. Evan got up and ran in front of the Seaking. Evan glared at it and the Seaking just rolled it's eyes. Evan used a sand attack, aiming for Seaking's eyes, but Seaking bounced away from the attack, then sent Evan flying with it's horn. Evan landed hard on the sand and turned to see that the Seaking had bounced in the ocean and was now swimming away.
"Oh well, I already have a water type anyway." Thatch sighed as he looked over at Orca, who was sunbathing on a rock on the shoreline. Evan walked over to Thatch and "veed" at him as he sat at Thatch's feet. Then Evan saw something in the woods, he got up and moved closer to notice it was the racoon Pokemon from earlier. Evan approached it and the racooon looked at him, but then Thatch came up behind Evan, frightening the racoon, which ran away at an extremally fast rate.
"Evan, what are you looking at?" Thatch asked as he bent down to Evan's level. Evan stared into the forest and looked back at Thatch before walking back to the beach, his ears were low on his head. He sat down and watched the waves wash up upon the shore, then slowly head back out to sea. Some of the waves came up and touched his paw, which he quickly moved.
"Evan, is there anything wrong?" Thatch asked as he came up beside the eevee. Evan looked up at Thatch, then glanced back at the forest. "Something in the forest?" Thatch glanced over at the forest where Evan was looking. He knew that after Biege Island was the first gym battle, and he had been getting lax with his training, so maybe some training in the forest would do him some good.
"Evan, would ya like to go training in the forest?" Thatch asked. Evan looked at the forest, then looked up at Thatch and slowly nodded his head. "Okay, Orca, we're going to go train now." Thatch called to the small orca whale. Orca grumbled under his breath as he crawled over to Thatch. Then Thatch, Evan, and Orca made their way to the forest.Evan sniffed at the leaves and sticks on the forest floor, trying to pick up the scent of the racoon creature that had rescued him earlier, but was having a hard time. The scent was barely on the ground at all, the racoon creature moved so fast, it's scent was hardley there at all. Evan sighed, his ears low, when he heard a faint rustling noise. He perked his ears up and listened for the sound again.
He heard, not the faint rustling noise, but a loud snapping noise, and from Thatch and Orca's reactions, they had heard the noise too. "What was that?" Thatch pondered aloud as he, Evan, and Orca began to run in the direction from which the sound had come.
They ran through the forest, dodging stumps and fallen limbs and other such obsticles as they ran in the direction from which the noise had come from. The forest was becoming thicker as they neared the spot from wince the noise had come. Soon they came to an open clearing by a small cave.
Danny looked around at his pokemon and took a deep breath as he entered the cave.It was warm inside the cave, and the ground was soft with mud. Here and there, several red Paris pokemon scuttled about. They looked like crabs and had mushrooms upon their backs. Danny brought out his pokedex to analyze them. "Paris, a pokemon that is a common sight in many caves. This pokemon is forever searching for places that it can spread it's mushroom spores to. Beware of Paris's claws as they can leave a poisonous scratch behind. Keep up the good work Danny my boy." his pokedex praised.
"Hmm, I don't think that noise came from these Paris." Danny pondered aloud to his pokemon. Just then they heard some gruff voices. Danny and his pokemon quickly hid behind an overly large Parasect.
"It's not here, we must have the wrong Island." a high-pitched males voice squeked.
"Nonsense, that orb has to be on this island, isn't this one of the shrine islands?" a gruff voice asked.
"No sire, this is Beige island, a desterted island with a few pokemon." the high-pitched voice answered.
"So we came all this way for nothing? Saraiya will be most disappointed in you, you may want to kiss your lives good bye, as Saraiya doesn't take kindly to being angered." the gruff voice spoke.
"Yes sire, but Eastern shrine island is just right next to Beige Island, we could go there and get the orb before anyone would ever notice we made a mistake." a new voice responded.
"Yes, I believe that would be best." the gruff voice said as footsteps could be heard, signaling that the three  were about to leave, but just when Danny thought he was in the clear, the Parasect in front of him began to move, exposing Danny and his pokemon, who had been hiding.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" the gruff voiced man spoke, he had a rough gray beard, an eye patch over one eye, he wore a white captain's hat along with a white captain's jacket that was unbuttoned, however he wasn't wearing a shirt underneath so his heavily muscled chest was visible. He had on brown jeans and a black boot on one foot, since his other was a peg-leg. "Looks like a little spy, don't you think so Ern?" he asked one of the men.
"Yeah Grem, a little spy. What do you think we should do with him?" asked the high-pitched voice man named Ern.
"I think we should show him what happens to people who try to listen in on things that are none of their buisness." Grem pulled a luxery ball out of his pocket, enlarged it, and threw it. "I choose you, Ockracaneo!" a long, thin orca whale appeared. He had light grey skin with white spots and sharp razor fins along his head. He was about almost 6 feet in hieght.
"Pokedex, what's that?" Thatch asked, quickly pulling the machine out of his pocket.
"Ockracaneo, the most evolved form of Orcafin. This pokemon moves faster on land then it does in water, but if it does come in contact with water, this pokemon can jump at such long distaces that it appears to fly. Considered a mythical pokemon by many ancients, it's skin can be used to produce a high-efficiency oil. Good luck Thatch."
"Orcafin's most evolved form?" Thatch cowered a bit, Orcafin, can you handle that thing?" Orcafin looked from Thatch to the whale and back, then promptly returned himself back to his pokeball. "That's not good."
Evan looked outside at the trees and saw a familiar brown form. Evan chirped at the Forescoon, and it came scampering inside.
"Would ya look at that," laughed Ern, "That little Racoon came to save the Eevee."
"What's that?" Thatch looked at the racoon pokemon, who tilted it's head in confusion.
"Enough talk, Ockracaneo, use Mystic rain now, wash these punks away." Grem ordered.
Ockracaneo raised his fins to the sky, causing the cave to grow dark, then a multicolored rain began to pour down on Thatch and his pokemon, the rain burned his skin. He looked down at Evan, who didn't look to good.
"Pokedex, what's going on?" Thatch asked.
"It's Mystic rain, a powerful psychic/water attack that causes a random status condition. It appears that you are experiancing a burn status condition."
"How do I get out of here?" Thatch's skin was on fire when...all of a sudden, the outside was a blurr of colors. Thatch looked down and saw that the tiny racoon had grabbed him by the arm and Evan around the middle and was running at top speed across the island. Behind him, he heard the enraged shouts of Grem and Ern and the other man too.
"I don't know how you're able to run and carry this much weight, but keep it up! Can you take us to my ship?" Danny shouted. The Forescoon nodded it's head. He carried them to the ship and set them down. Grem and company were shouting as they tried to make their way towards Thatch."Hurry, let's get aboard." Thatch jumped aboard, and Evan and the Forescoon followed. Thatch quickly pulled up the anchor and set sail as fast as he could to the next island. Thatch turned and watched as the men and the island grew smaller.
"What was that all about?" Thatch wondered aloud. Then he looked down and noticed the Forescoon onboard. "Hey Forescoon, sorry to take you from your home like this, but would you like to come with me on my journey?" Thatch asked.
Forescoon nodded his head, not that he had much choice. "Now I need a nickname for you, how about...Forest? Do you like that?" Thatch asked. Forest nodded his head, Thatch pulled out a pokeball and set it down next to Forest, who greatfully got inside.
Happy with his new pokemon, and with the promise of a new island ahead, Thatch smiled, sea breeze blowing back his hair and sea spray blowing in upon him and Evan.
