Mission Statement:
The Island Development and Enrichment Association (IDEA) was formed to revitalize important community landmarks and resources for the purpose of invigorating the surrounding island community.
Island life is unique in that it is isolated and self-sustaining. Resources are very limited and each one plays an important role in the overall health of an island community. Due to the restrictive economy and overextended volunteerism common in island communities, many resources have become overused and under appreciated; leaving them in a state unfit for proper use. IDEA hopes to encourage generosity from outside and within its community. We will apply these benefits in the most appropriate manner to better the community as a whole.
IDEA also intends to help its community by organizing and leading volunteer projects, and by working in conjunction with existing organization such as: Long Island Recreation Department, VFW, Long Island Civic Association, Changing Tides, Long Island Historical Society, Long Island Elementary School, Kids' Cab, and others.
Through hard work and inspiration, it is IDEA's hope that it can become a vehicle of generosity for island enrichment.
