A Sheltered Heart

A sheltered heart so long embraced,
A wistful hope my soul shall make.
Whisper soft, my sigh shall grace,
Your attentive ear, my soulful ache.

You came to me and I never knew,
A bond so deep or a love so true.
No seeking heart nor false promise made,
Could satisfy love's first wild wake...

Lying in my bed at night, I think of you.
Where shadows lie 'til morning's dew
I see only your face-
your eyes-
your smiling lips-
A hand stretched out for me to grasp
Into your lover's embrace does my aching body slip,
Your touch, your heat, bringing forth an innocent's first gasp.

'Tis a dream, I think...
Even as I sink...
Into the warm abyss
Of passion's first kiss.

Blushed crimson rose
From my head to my toes..
My secret longing,
I've yet to disclose..
I have lost my heart
knowing full well why.

'Twas your charm, your grace
Your smiling face..
The words you speak,
The tender brush of your thumb, 'cross mine own...
In passing, fare-the-well..
A gentle, innocent lovers caress.
