Frozen To The Core

The Yellow Wallpaper

*This....amateur poem was inspired by the story "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. I read it for literature class and loved it. The poem doesn't really have much to do with the actual story but it is sort of based on the story mixed with my own personal feelings.*

      I'm sorry again...

     I think I'm alright now
but I have to leave this place
I came so close to losing myself, almost hollow
Yet I'm still here, I feel it... I'm okay

    Forgive me...

You haven't left my side, you loved me
We have to go away, anywhere away from here
away from the paper with its grotesque pattern
I know you can't understand, love, trust me
    learn to trust me again

    Forgive me...

    I think I need help
    from someone other than you
But I still need you by my side, stay with me
guide me but don't cover my eyes

    I'm sorry...

I'm leaving now, I pray you will come with me
this place is driving to insanity
to a place I will not go
I must be free, I cant while I'm here
    I cant...by myself

    I'm sorry again...

    I think I'm alright now
but I have to leave this place
I came so close to losing myself, almost hollow
Yet I'm still here, I feel it...I'm okay
