The International Pediatric Emergency Medicine Elective (IPEME) brings together Canadian and Middle Eastern medical students. The program is designed to foster cooperation and networking among the students by using medicine as the vehicle. The summer elective is hosted in Toronto and is sponsored by: the Canadian International Scientific Exchange Program (CISEPO), the Peter A. Silverman Centre for International Health (PASCIH), and the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Hospital for Sick Children. The first International Pediatric Emergency Medicine Elective was held in the summer of 2007 and due to its large success, it is expected to continue on an annual basis.
