I really don’t give out info or anything due to the amount of creepy stalkers out there. End of story. All you really need to know about me is that I love Harry Potter (and have since, like, forever) and Avatar: The Last Airbender, and I write fan fiction. Oh yes, and I love Professor Severus Snape. He’s my favorite. And I'm rather achingly boring in person, so it'd be pointless to stalk/meet me anyway. :D
I write and speak in English, I hate grammar but use it anyway, and I don’t care if I get negative feedback, which I have received, of course. Because I’m not perfect.
My earlier stories bug me because they (kind of suck) are not good. I've been writing since as long as I can remember, so you'll probably see my writing mature as you read from the older stuff to the new. As someone wise once said, the only way to get better is to practice. And let’s face it, I was not hit by the talent branch.
House: Ravenclaw
Favorite Character: Snape and Lupin in HP; Sokka, Aang, and Zuko in Avatar
Wand: Willow and Unicorn Hair, twelve inches. Pliable. Excellent for Charms.
Favorite Death Eater: Augustus Rookwood
Favorite Villain: Zuko, hands down. He rocks my mismatched socks!
Favorite OC: Miranda Kent, who has been kicking around in my mind as both witch and Muggle (in original fiction) for ages.
First, the most asked question:
How the heck do you pronounce Invaderk and what does it mean?
Heh, the truth is, I dont really know, nor do I care. It was originally pronounced "Invader Kay", but people pronounce it "Inva-derk", which is pretty cool. So pronounce it however you want. Invaderk doesn't mean anything, I just thought it up as an email address.
Why Harry Potter?
I don’t know why people ask this question, really, because the answer is kind of obvious. I like Harry Potter. Harry Potter has been my obsession for over eight years (punctuated by brief obsessions with Jimmy Neutron, of course).
Have you ever written anything else?
Yes. Originally the story I’ll be Home, For Christmas was not Harry Potter based. I turned it into a fan fiction so that I could post it on FFnet, and it kind of stuck. If you want to read the original (which is better, I believe), then email me. Also, I've recently decided not to let Miranda Kent (from The Trouble With... mini-series) go to waste. She's currently working with my close friend Robert in my Writing100 for my original characters. I plan on posting the 100 eventually, probably on Fictionpress.com
How do I contact you?
You can email me at invadrk@cox.net or you can PM (personal message) me from Fan fiction.net. Either way I’ll get the message.
How do you crank out so many stories in such a short period of time?
Well, that’s easy enough to answer. I use my story machine. Heh, just kidding. (Bad joke, I'm sorry) I’m not so sure how I do it, because writing’s always been a thing for me, ever since I was a little kid. Basically you wait until the idea pops into your head (it doesn’t matter what the idea is, really) and then just fine tune it. I usually outline the story in my handy dandy notebook and then type it up. If you’re not near a computer, write it in said notebook. Always carry the notebook. The notebook is your friend!
Do have, like, a Snape fetish or something?
No, he just makes me happy. He's just this really unattractive character who is just full of amusing traits. I don't know if I would really want to meet him (if he was real, of course ^_^), but I do so love writing about him. He's such a character and there's so much to him. Aaaand... he's really easy to pick on. So my self esteem goes up and I get really good reviews. It's a win/win situation.
Can you write me a story?
Sure, I guess, if I have time.
Aren't the Death Eaters supposed to be evil?
They totally are. I just like making fun of them. Do notice, however, that I try to keep the DE's personalities consistent throughout the stories even when I'm picking on them. Personality is personality, unless you're talking AU.
What materials do you use?
This question makes me laugh. Pen and paper, I guess? My notebook is from Walmart (whoo!). I actually have a leather cover for my book because I’m a geek and I love leather. It’s a Swing cover and I got it on sale (!) from Borders Books. And then, of course, I have my laptop.
When did you start writing?
I used to write all the time and then, for no reason, I stopped when I lost my muse and my plot bunny got hit by a eighteen-wheeler. Then, years later, I began getting ideas in my head again for stories, and I utterly ignored them. I couldn’t sleep because these damn ideas were just in my head all the time, so eventually I wrote them down. That was the beginning of I’ll Be Home, For Christmas. One day, I stumbled across FFnet, made a screen name, and translated my story into fan fiction. And now I’m here, six months later, with over 70 HP stories alone.
Any influences?
Really just J.K. Rowling herself and the inevitable Stephen King. I loved their writing styles. Reading other people's works can also be very influential. My style is my own, however, just because it is. I recommend the book Tell No One by Harlan Coben because the writing style is to die for. Not to mention I can't resist an action-packed romance novel full of violence and love. *Sigh*
Also, I get a lot of my lessons and technique from On Writing by Stephen King. It was very influential and I recommend it.
Can you teach me how to write?
Er, I don’t think so. I’m not a teacher, and everyone has their own style unique to them. Just (and I always hated being told this but its true) practice. Practicing is the only thing that can help. Write from real life, write fan fiction, even if it’s terrible. It will improve. Also, make sure you proofread. A beta (editor-type person, not the fish) wouldn’t hurt, either, but not everyone has one. I just recently got one because my spelling is atrocious.
Another note: some authors, like King, seem to think that writing fan fiction is not good if you want to be an author, but it's helped me. Just make sure that you don't forget how to write your own stuff, like your original characters.
Why are you so secretive about your name and age and stuff?
Because I don’t feel like getting stalked/raped/harassed/etc. I was brought up like this, and it’s how I am.
Pen or pencil?
Pen. Definitely. It lasts longer, doesn’t smudge, and it’s easier to read. My favorite pen type is the Papermate Write Bros. brand... the kind with the grip. It's pretty much amazing.
Got a question? Send it to me and I'll most likely answer it.
