the girl who overcame time ...
|
|

Kagome Higurashi is a 15 year old normal girl from Tokyo, Japan. She lives in her familly's shrine with her mother, her grandfather , her little brother Souta and their cat, Buyo. She likes going to school but can't stand history (especially when her grandfather is telling it) and is not very keen on mathematics. In fact she always does poor on exams. Kagome has 3 good girlfriends Yuka, Eri and Ayumi and of course one boy who likes her very (VERY) much, Houjou. But on her 15'th birthday something happened that changed everything. Kagome was just sitting near the "bone eater's" well when a centipede (mononoke) grabbed her and took her to feudal Japan (Sengoku Jidai). There she met Inuyasha (who was pinned to a tree by Kikyou) and helped him escape. After this Kaede, Kikyou's sister, figured out that Kagome was really Kikyou reincarnation and was a powerfull priestess (miko) who could see the Shikon shards (Shikon no kakera).
At first Kagome and Inuyasha hated their guts, always fighting (always saying sit - osuwari and idiot - baka) but in time, while searching for the Shikon Jewel that Kagome actually shatered , they began to fall in love which each other. But Inuyasha can never forget about Kikyou so there is a problem, that's bothering Kagome (very much indeed).
Kagome has black hair and brown eyes (just like Japanese girls) and is very beautiful indeed. She is quite tall and very thin, always dressing in skirts. Kagome is a caring girl, always helping those injured. When it comes to Inuyasha she mostly thinks with her heart doing almost everything for him ( being close to death in movie 2 just for him ). She can have strong feelings and of course has miko powers like Kikyou. Kagome can use the bow and arrow (a bit clumsy at the beginning but she gets the hang of it) , she can shoot purifying arrows. This girl can also see the Shikon shards from miles away. That's why at the beginning Inuyasha and her had to stay together (though Inuyasha so obviusly did not want that) but little by little this hanyou started to care for her and always want her by his side. And even though Kagome's heart aches sometimes because Inuyasha always runs of in search of Kikyou, she will always love him and will always want to stay by his side.

and the boy sealed away...
|

Inuyasha is a half demon (a hanyou), his mother was human but his father was a great dog demon, feared by everyone, demon or human. 50 years ago he fell in love with Kikyou, a miko who protected the Shikon no Tama. They decided to use the jewel to make Inuyasha human. But another hanyou, Naraku, tricked them in to thinking that they had deceived each other. Kikyou said that she wanted the Shikon to be burned along with her so taht she would protect it forever and died. Inuyasha though ended up pinned on the sacred tree with a sealing arrow, felling into an endless sleep. He was finally revived by Kagome, a high-school girl from another time period who was said to be Kikyou's reincarnation. She , by mistake , broke the Jewel of four souls into hundreds of shards and ended up gathering them back with Inuyasha . But now, the hanyou (still feeling betrayed by Kikyou) wanted to use the jewel to make himself a full demon ( a youkai ).
Inuyasha, being a hanyou, had always had to fight to make a living. He was always persecuted and laughed at by both demons and humans so he always had to fight to make himself a road in life. And no one had ever been nice to him except for his mother who had died and left him a coat out of the hair of the fire rat and a bit of lipstick (which he gave to Kikyou). When he met Kikyou he felt guilty for the first time. Since then they were always together. But he hated Kagome, who looked exactly like Kikyou. Or so he thought at the beginning. They didn't like each other not one bit. She would always say "sit" and he would always say "idiot" (refering to Kagome of course). But little by little though he did not want to admit it, he wanted Kagome to stay with him, for more personal reasons. She also fell in love with him. But even though his heart was still aching because of Kikyou, he could never forget about her, always running after here and causing Kagome a lot of pain.
Though he pretends to be indifferent, Inuyasha can't stand injustice and he won't hesitate to fight any evil demon he encounters. He prefers to use his powerful sword, Tessaiga, in battle, but his claws are also formidable weapons. However, if he's forced into a fight when he doesn't have Tessaiga, the demon blood inside of him could take over and turn him into a berserk demon, killing for fun! In some cases no one can stop him (except for Kagome, who always calms him down). And like all half-demons, there's a time when he loses all his demon powers and becomes a human. In Inuyasha's case, it's once a month during the new moon. He hates being a human. He can be really vulnerable then, so he can't fight (also when he's a human he shows his feeling towards Kagome and out of some crazy reason he hates that). Inuyasha is very strong and even though he's a hanyou he can beat almost every full demon he meets. But when argueing with Kagome, no matter how strong he is or may be, when she says "osuwari" ("sit" in japanese) everything goes down baby !

Sango comes from a demon slayer familly. She uses a weapon called Hiraikotsu (resembles a boomerang), a sword, has several hidden weapons and also has special poison for demons. Sango, her father and friends go out killing evil demons .She has a brother, Kohaku, younger than her who was preparing to become a demon slayer as well. But on his first day, they get tricked. Kohaku (being brain washed) kills their father and friends, hurting Sango too. After this they both get killed. Sango manages to survive but gets tricked by Naraku again in to thinking that Inuyasha had killed her relatives. After she discovers the truth she joins Inuyasha's group, helping to destroy Naraku.
When Naraku saw that Sango figured out the truth, he put a Shikon shard in the back of Kohaku and brought him to life as well. Now he doesn't remember a thing and tries to kill Kagome. Sango is very sad because of that and wants to release him as soon as possible. He once tried to kill him and after that kill herself so that they both would be free but she could not do it.
After joining the group she met Miroku the monk. They make a great team always fighting together. She fells in love with him (he too with her or so he says) but they never get very far because he lusts after other girls sometimes. Though she always gets upset, they always make up, because there really is a spark between them. When they look at each other Sango always blushes. Of course she is best friends with Kagome, who she doesn't always understand and at first she hates Inuyasha (for being a hanyou) but she gets used to him and starts liking the way he is (though she always gets mad when he makes Kagome return to her land).
Miroku - sama is a monk. His grandfather , in a battle, was cursed by Naraku with the wind tunnel in his right hand. The wind tunnel can suck anything into a dark void. After both his grandfather and his father were sucked into their own tunnel, Miroku was raised at a temple by his mentor Muushin - sama ,a man who loved to drink a lot, and made friends with Hachi the tanuki. His purpose is to destroy Naraku so that he would be free of this curse . His weak point are young girls. When Miroku meets a girl (a pretty one that is)he will surely ask her if she would accept to bear his child. Few say yes, many say no, but he forgets quickly about them when he meets Sango. He asks her to marry with him and she accepts. Even though the girls from the monk's past appear they manage to maintain their relationship (which is he touching her butt all the time, she slapping him hard), even though they never get very far. |

Shippou is a little fox demon whom Inuyasha and Kagome help. Kagome "fells in love" automatically with him, always protecting him like a sister. Shippou's friendly and playful, and he also adores all the treats and toys that Kagome brings back from her world. Probably one of his major faults is that he's a bit of a coward, so he prefers to let Inuyasha and the others do all the fighting. That's not to say he can't be brave if the need arises, and if he is forced into a battle, he uses his fox magic to do shape-shifting tricks and create illusions. And if all else fails, he can throw out his Fox Fire. Shippou fears being alone above all else, so he sticks extremely close to all his friends, though he seems to favor Kagome the most.
Kirara is Sango's pet. She looks like a kitten with two tails but when she transforms you better not get in her way. She can actually fly, always helping Sango in battle. Shippou likes Kirara a lot and always stays around her. She, like Sango, misses Kohaku a lot, always remembering the time when the two siblings were children, playing , helping one another. She helps everybody (once helping Inuyasha exercise his Kaze no Kizu ). |

Kikyo was once a renowned priestess given the task to care for the powerful Shikon Jewel. However, she fell in love with Inuyasha and was later tricked into betraying him by Naraku. After suffering a major injury(from Naraku disguised as Inuyasha)she used the last of her strength to seal Inuyasha to a tree with one of her sacred arrows. Her body was later cremated along with the Shikon Jewel.
After Inuyasha was freed and joined Kagome in searching for the Shikon shards, the witch Urasue used her powers to ressurect Kikyou. But even the newly revived Kikyou still harbored the sting of betrayal in her soul. Though she eventually learned the truth about Onigumo and Naraku, her feelings of hatred and bitterness still remain. At first she wanted nothing more than for Inuyasha to die with her, but her focus eventually shifted to using the Jewel's power to destroy Naraku. She never takes anyone's side, but does things to serve her own thoughts and feelings. Because of this, she may appear wicked and cold, but it's apparent that Kikyou has a reason for the things she does. A lot of the time, she wanders from village to village, using her spiritual powers to help people. However, since her body isn't that of a real human being but an empty shell made of clay and soil, she relies on her soul-collecting demons to bring her dead souls for energy. Her relationship with Inuyasha is still shaky and awkward. She continues to carry a severe hatred inside of her, but she simply cannot bring herself to truly harm him. And although she's rather indifferent to Kagome, she's obviously aware of the relationship growing between them. (sometimes feeling a bit jealous that it wasn't her who changed Inuyasha). Kagome, even though she does hate her a bit and even though Kikyou tried to take her shards and kill her once , saved Kikyou's body once, when Naraku had harmed her.
Kaede , her little sister, is now an old woman, trying to help Kagome and Inuyasha and trying to keep demons out of her village. She misses a lot the old Kikyou, which she had to burn. She had always felt sorry for the cruel fate of her sister and had always tried to help her in the small ways a child could. Kaede is a bit worried about what Inuyasha is going to do when the jewel is complete but secretly hopes that Kagome will change him in good. |

Sesshoumaru (Rin and Jaken), Naraku and Kouga
|

Sesshoumaru is Inuyasha's older brother, but unlike Inuyasha, he is a full demon. The two of them share a mutual and bitter hatred for each other and they won't hesitate to fight the moment they lay eyes on one another. Also unlike Inuyasha, Sesshoumaru despises humans, which is the main reason why he's unable to obtain the one thing he wants most; Inuyasha's sword, Tessaiga.
Although he looks handsome and calm on the outside, Sesshoumaru is totally ruthless in battle. Even though an early fight with Inuyasha caused him to lose one of his arms, that didn't hinder his fighting ability. However, much to his dismay, the sword he inherited from his father, Tenseiga, is a sword of healing that can revive the dead. But Sesshoumaru eventually got hold of another powerful sword, Tokijin, that he can use in battle. That, together with his poisonous claws, makes Sesshoumaru a deadly opponent. He even frightens his servent, Jaken. But though Sesshoumaru thinks nothing of killing anyone who gets in his way, it doesn't appear like he goes out of his way to be evil.
Even though Sesshoumaru seems extremely stoic and devoid of any emotions, there is some evidence that he isn't entirely indifferent to everything. After getting wounded in a battle with Inuyasha, Sesshoumaru was approached by a little orphan girl named Rin. She offered him food, and even though he didn't want it, he seemed to be touched by her kindness. He made that evident by bringing her back to life with Tenseiga after she was killed by a pack of Kouga's wolves, and letting her accompany him on his travels. Exactly what he feels for her is unknown, since Sesshoumaru isn't one to talk about his feelings, but it's obvious that Rin is one of the very few things he cares about.

Naraku is the hanyou who everybody is looking for to kill. He is a hanyou because his heart belongs to the thief Onigumo who had suffered an accident and was taken care of by Kikyou. He quickly fell in love with her ( a strange love) and was jealous of Inuyasha. Because he could not move nore now nore never he accepted the demon body. He then tricked the two lovers into thinking of betrayal. Now he seeks the shards of the jewel so that he could become a full blooded youkai.
He has tried several times to get rid of his heart and out of lumpf of flesh he created Kagura (the wind) , Kanna (the naught), Hakudoushi and other evil characters but he didn't always succed so he felt something for Kikyou.
If ever there was a villain who wanted all the power, but never dirtied his own hands nor fought his fights for himself, Naraku takes the cake! In Japanese, his name literally means "hell," and it matches him shockingly well. He manipulates demons and humans alike in order to achieve his goal of obtaining the complete Shikon Jewel. And in doing so he's caused an unimaginable amount of pain and suffering to practically all the other characters. He's responsible for tricking Inuyasha and Kikyo into betraying each other, the curse of the Wind Tunnel in Miroku's family, the death of Sango's family and using her brother Kohaku as a servent, trapping and killing Koga's comrades, and even tricking Sesshomaru into joining forces with him for a while. But he almost never performs any of his evil schemes himself. He often lays complex traps and uses others as pawns to do his bidding, or he creates demon incarnations of himself to control. But even one of his incarnations, Kagura, despises him because he has her heart, the key to her very life, and refuses to give it to her, so she's forced to follow his orders against her will.
It seems everyone has a reason to hate Naraku. But no matter how many of his plans Inuyasha and the others have foiled, nor how many times they think they've got him beat, he always has more death and suffering to cause. He's definitely one of the most cunning(and evil) villains of all.

Kouga is the leader of the Wolf-Demon Tribe. And as such, he has many wolf-like habits, such as eating raw meat and living in a cave with his pack. He also has two Shikon shards, one in each leg, that allow him to move incredibly fast. One day, while letting his wolves run wild and sabotage a village, he ran into Inuyasha's group. He was shocked that Kagome could see the Jewel shards inside of him, so he decided to kidnap her and use her power to obtain other shards. It wasn't long before he grew to like her so much that he wanted to make her "his woman." Kagome does learn to like Kouga, but she doesn't return his feelings of undying love. Kouga, on the other hand, refuses to give up on her. However, even super-fast Koga could not escape Naraku's evil grasp. He sent Kagura to kill a great many of Kouga's wolf-demon friends and framed Inuyasha for the deed, causing Kouga to attack him! When Kouga finally learned the truth, he set out to kill Naraku to avenge his kin. Accompanied by his two comrades, Ginta and Hakkaku, Kouga will stop at nothing to find Naraku...except to flirt with Kagome when he can . Inuyasha and Koga don't get along!!!!!! |

Shichinintai - The band of seven

And two non-looking-but-really humans: Ginkotsu & Kyoukotsu). Before they died, their employer was a daimyo. The daimyo feared assassination and betrayal so he had several armies take the Shichinintai into the mountains and behead them. Their remains were buried in the shrine of a small village and there they stayed for 15 years. Naraku gives the Shichinintai a second chance at life as his servants by putting a Shikon Shard in their bodies.

Kagura, Kanna and Goshinki
|
Kagura, Kanna and Goshinki are 3 reincarnations of Naraku, ment to destroy Inuyasha and the group. They each have their own special powers.

Kagura first appeared in episode 40. She represents the wind and can control it in any way. Her usual attack is "Dance of Blades". She is heartless, meaning that she doesn't have a heart because Naraku took it and hid it in a pot so that Kagura could never flee and if she ever betrayed him he would absorb her body. Because she is a reincarnation, her back has the same mark as Naraku, in the shape of a spider. It is seen several times when she is strongly attacked by Inuyasha. She seems to have a cruch on Sesshoumaru always thinking of him as very powerful and cunning but nothing ever happens between them.

Kanna represents nothingness, the void. She is neutral, hasn't got opinions of her own ... she never desires good or bad. Kanna always has a mirror in wich she absorbs people's souls and afterwards control their bodies. Her mirror can also return the attack of someone (she gives back Inuyasha's Kaze no Kizu and he's almost a goner on episode 41 - the episode in which she first appeared). Kanna is extremely quiet and appears to obey Naraku at his every command.

Goshinki is a very mean character. HE cand read minds and is as fast as lightning. At first Kagura thinks of him as a stupid oni who eats without thinking but reads her mind and tells her that Naraku ordered him to eat the entire village. Goshinki is the one who breaks Tessaiga in two telling Inuyasha that he is a fool not knowing that a youkai's teeth are stronger than steel. Afterwards Inuyasha turns himself into a full blooded youkai and tears Goshinki to pieces (the first time ha transformed). Later on Sesshoumaru brings Goshinki's fang to Toukijin and tells him to make a sword (a sword so evil that he will use to get Tessaiga back). |
