Story From Racerx:
Ricky Carmichael is back on top in supercross. He wrapped up the 2005 THQ AMA Supercross Championship one race early at Houston, and he already had the THQ World Supercross GP title in the bag two weeks ago. RC started the season out as a bit of an underdog in many people’s eyes, with Chad Reed defending his 2004 title and James “Bubba” Stewart also in the mix. As it turned out, of course, Bubba missed races due to an injury and Reed never recovered the 15-point deficit he started the season with when he had a brake problem in the mud at Anaheim 1. He is now 27 points behind with one race to go. Carmichael hasn’t won a main event since St Louis, which has led many to speculate that he was holding back, just looking at the title. Well, after the Houston press conference, RC went back to celebrate with his team and sign autographs until the last person left—Pastrana-style.
