Cima II

The Interim

The sum total of intelligent life is contained within two worlds, Cima and Lare. Cima is the land of magic, composed of almost numberless worlds and variations. Lare is the world of science, nearly limitless in size. But these places cannot coexist. Although they may share some similar features, their laws are different, and mutual destruction follows if a portal is opened between them (think Dark Ages, End of the Dinosaurs).

However, brilliant scientists and magicians on both sides found a solution. The Interim is a sort of airlock, a neutral zone that exists between and around Cima and Lare. The people within can visit either place without blowing up the universe.

This interim on the web is a lesser version. But it holds the worlds of science and magic also.

In Honor of my upcoming date of birth:

Happy birthday to me! Happy birthday to me! Have a piece of e-cake! Silver-white, to be specific.

Mix: 3 1/3 c. flour, 2 c. sugar, 1 tsp. salt, and 5 tsp. baking powder. Cut in 1 cup soft shortening. Add 1 1/3 c. milk, 2 tsp. vanilla *or* almond extract. Blend and beat for 2 minutes. Add 6 egg whites (approx. 3/4 cup) and beat for 2 more minutes. Pour into 2 greased and floured nine-inch pans. Bake ~30 minutes, at 350 degrees F. Frost when cool. (otherwise the thing falls over as the frosting melts. Oh, and one other thing--my mom doctored one of the copies we have of this recipe so it makes three pans instead of two, and I have no idea which one this is. It'll probably be safe. Still, bake at your own risk. You could just eat the batter, y'know.)

Updates

1-12-03: Happy Second-week-of-the-New Year! Cher'i and Wise make their first appearance on Cima! Wise is cool. (pronounce like 'vice'). She's got wings! And she's only fourteen inches long! Also, a certain individual who likes wearing sunglasses. Well, not really, but she has to anyway. She won't be around long though; she has to go start a war in the demon world of Tarbol, and then keep Atlantis from blowing up the sun. Then for a few quiet weeks of changing the eating habits of ants. Don't even ask. Mainly, the story is of Ellery (hideous name, isn't it?) and Yefand, an angel-y sort of person. Not that there's much of a story yet. But suggestions are welcome--especially on the tribute-grounds.

1-14-03: Just found this on a card entitled: How to catch a Snake for Food

Jump onto the snake's head to ensure it is dead and avoid getting poisoned.

Die, Snake! Die!

1-28-04: Another story fragment (dream based, no less!). It won't seem like much, since I haven't done much more than write the prelude to action. Deathlight.

2-8-04: Quiz! First--What do you want? Second--Why? (No, I'm not expecting anyone will answer. Think how marvelously surprised I would be if anyone did!)

2-16-04: New story! It is grammatically and narratively horrible, I already know. I will fix it when I have the time. It's also unfinished (just one paragraph to go). So there.

2-18-04: Another new story! Technically it's a retelling of a very old story. I'm going to see if East-Sun-West-Moon could be done so that the people in it behave less than perfectly. Um. Something like that.

2-24-04: I've been a prolific writer. "Tower Keeper" is one I intend to send somewhere and get paid. Stop snickering. I know no one in their right mind would pay for something I wrote--yet--but maybe there'll be an editor out in the left mind.

3-19-04: New links at Lare! Or is it Lare II? I don't know. And part of yet another story: Lorgoc and the Crystal Maiden. It's a rough draft of something based on Conan stories (hulking heroic man defeats beasts and evil enchanter, then makes out with cute babe. Which reminds me of another one--where the cute rescuee is quite literally a babe.) Should it be funny or drama? The rough is more towards drama, but that could be rectified...

3-23-04: My, I am a little cliched writer this week...Archetypal Adventurers! If you can't name the attributes of Hero, Gypsy, and Thief, don't bother with this one. If you can, well, hopefully it will be amusing. We all know that I don't really do amusing, but I did try on this.

12-15-04: Okay, nothing has been done here for...8 months. More or less. All my little stories have been finding outlet at deviantart. Not necessarily the safest thing as far as copyright goes, but people see them. The coolness is indescribable. I might cache some of them here though, dooming them to eternal darkness and such.

Pronunciation!
