Working together process
The Intergenerational Project or ‘Free To Be Your Age’ involved two age groups school students and older adults.
Each of the three creative projects had different artist lead them.
The common factor with all 3 groups was that each age group worked on its own for four sessions. Then with each of the media they came together to work as a mixed age group for a further 4 weeks.
Here the Younger generation group express visually:
"How do you think younger people view older people?"
In terms of stereotypes, both age groups came up with very similar responses to both questions, but with the occasional surprising difference. Both groups wanted to move beyond stereotypes. While expressing some truths, the stereotypes fell well short of the full picture and both age groups had begun to feel that, and especially as they worked further in the photography and web settings.
