Welcome to the December/January edition
Congratulations to all our November winners and thanks, as always, to our judges: Elizabeth Haffner, Kate Farmer, Marj Coultous, Trudi Dempsy and Glynis Mills.
All rosettes for October should now have reached their destinations. October prize money has been transferred to those who have supplied me with a PayPal email address.
Please remember to include a postcode on your entry forms to avoid delays. I also need confirmation of your PayPal address every time you win prize money. We no longer issue cheques or credit notes. All prize money MUST be claimed within 6 months. A full list of winners can be found using the navigation bar to the left and clicking on and scrolling down 'Results 2016'.It is with regret that we say goodbye (hopefully just for now) to Karin Hackett, one of our regular showing judges. Karin has given up so much time for Interdressage and she will be very sorely missed. Fingers crossed she will make some 'guest appearances' to our judging panel in the New Year!
After a poll on our Facebook pages it was decided that our nominated charity for December will be Willberry Wonder Pony https://www.facebook.com/willberrywonderponywristbands/
All proceeds from our Hobby Horse class in December will go to this charity so PLEASE tell as many of your friends and family as possible to get practicing! They don't have to be horsey! Hobby Horses are notoriously quick breeders, so even if yo don't have one in the family now you could have one born and ready to train (not the easiest of tasks!) by next week!!!! They mature very quickly, are incredibly cheap to keep and despite what some people say, make very loyal and useful pets!!! They have few known diseases but need to be treated regularly for worms (of the wood variety) ...Oh... and another word of warning... keep them away from the Xmas Alcohol before videoing if you want to keep your dignity intact!!
Please spread the word! Our esteemed judges are keen and eager- lets try and make this the best supported class this Christmas!!!!
Entries for November are open and close 6pm PROMPT UK time NOVEMBER 30TH. WE CANNOT EXTEND THE CLOSING TIME UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES-the schedule will be removed promptly at 6pm so please avoid leaving making entries until the last minute in case of technical difficulties.
We aim to have all results finalized by December 3rd/ 4th.
Videos for dressage and Baroque classes received on and after November 26th will be returned MINUS tips and advice but with detailed judge's assessment.
The British Riding Club League and the Tadcaster Equine Physiotherapy Winter League started again in October and will run until April 2017. Don't forget to let me know which section you are competing in and also remind me of the name of any riding school, winter league team or riding club you are competing for when you submit the URL link to your YouTube video to avoid missing out on points! Things can get very confusing this end if all information is not supplied at the time of submitting your link.
Full rules can be found using these links;

JUST A QUICK REMINDER THAT ALL HORSES AND PONIES COMPETING IN THE RIDING SCHOOL POINTS LEAGUE MUST BE OWNED AND USED BY THE RIDING SCHOOL FOR CLIENTS- EVEN IF THEY ARE ONLY USED FOR IN HAND LESSONS OR STABLE MANAGEMENT. PRIVATE CLIENTS MUST NOT COMPETE ON THEIR OWN HORSES UNDER THE BANNER OF A RIDING SCHOOL ENTRY. Here is the link to the rules. http://www.interdressage.com/riding.php
PLEASE REMEMBER TO LET ME KNOW WHETHER YOU ARE COMPETING IN THE RESTRICTED, INTERMEDIATE OR OPEN SECTION WHERE APPROPRIATE- you can include this info when you email me the link to your video!
If you have sent your video link and it has not appeared on the site within 48 hours PLEASE let me know- it means I probably have not received it!
If you notice any errors on the leader board, I need to be contacted BEFORE the results are finalized to avoid missing out on points.
NOW THAT THE NIGHTS ARE DRAWING IN PLEASE CHECK YOUR VIDEO QUALITY. Avoid videoing in artificial light unless you are on a light colored horse. If you have trouble viewing your video then so will our judges. They are not equipped with super powers and can only score what they can clearly see. Wearing light clothing, using white bandages and saddle cloths and avoiding videoing dark horses against dark backgrounds goes a little way to making your video clearer but if in any doubt as to the clarity of your video please refrain from submitting it and wait until your can video in good light.
Please remember to use the same name of both rider and horse as points are awarded to horse and rider combinations. It gets very confusing when the name on the entry form differs to the name used on YouTube so please try and stick with just one name to avoid missing out on points.
All videos must be set to public view. This is a competition and it is important that the whole class can be viewed by everybody to maintain fairness. My advice to anyone who feels this is an infringement on privacy or security is to seriously question whether competing online is right for them personally.
Some people periodically have trouble emailing me- if you cannot contact me via email you can always reach me via a FACEBOOK MESSAGE but allow 24 hours for a reply!.I am usually in the office from 8am until about 10.30am- after that I am out and about treating or teaching (I am an Equine physio by profession.)
Don't forget, I am always more than happy to present an Equine Physiotherapy lecture or demonstration to your riding school or riding club, and I am happy to hold physio clinics up and down the country, providing there are enough horses to treat to make a long trip viable, Please check out my website http://www.tadcasteranimalphysio.com/ and Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/karina.hawkridge for more information.
As always, please check the quality of your video is acceptable before submitting it for judging- we cannot accept videos that are unclear or overly pixelated so please check the quality BEFORE submission- Avoid videoing in artificial light and check that a dark horse against a dark background is visible- our judges MUST be able to see you to be able to judge you! Also ensure your videographer keeps the whole horse in the frame as much as possible- this MUST include the legs and feet- especially in transitions- We accept that some of the horse will be out of shot near the 'C' end of the arena- we have allowed for this when writing the tests- but the whole of the horse must be in shot the rest of the time.
HAVE YOU INCLUDED YOUR POSTCODE ON YOUR ENTRY FORM?
Please check before submitting your entry.
PLEASE READ THE SCHEDULE CAREFULLY BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR ENTRY AND LET ME KNOW THE NAME, NUMBER AND SECTION OF THE CLASS YOU ARE COMPETING IN.
Check out or Facebook Pages!
Due to time limitations I will no longer be issuing riding school points league certificates. If you would like to print off your own certificate I will send over a certificate template on request.
Please check the time limit on any freestyle classes. If the time limit is ever erroneously omitted then it is safe to assume a limit of 4 mins and 30 secs on all freestyle shows and dressage tests. Some of you feel it is quite a challenge to keep your shows and tests within the time limit. Be creative and concise and you should not struggle! All requirements CAN be fitted into this time limit. A few seconds over will not be penalised but more than 10 or 15 seconds over will usually carry a penalty at the discretion of our judges.
HAVE YOU INCLUDED THE NAME OF YOUR RIDING SCHOOL AFTER YOUR HORSE'S NAME OR IN THE EMAIL CONTAINING YOUR YOUTUBE URL LINK?
HAVE YOU UPLOADED YOUR VIDEO TO YOUTUBE AND HAVE YOU EMAILED ME THE URL LINK TO YOUR VIDEO?
PLEASE VIDEO FROM C IN 20x40 ARENA FOR ALL DRESSAGE COMPETITIONS
The Riding school points league started again in May and runs until April 2017.
Remember, your video MUST be uploaded to YouTube and you must email me the URL link to your video as soon as it is uploaded. No other format is accepted.
If you are thinking of entering bulk entries close to the close of entries please could you let me know early so I can book the judge?s time efficiently?
Don't forget to set your YouTube videos to 'Public View'. Remember to video your tests from C in a 20x40m arena (any size for showing and jumping classes) and check that the quality of your video is clear enough to judge! VIDEOS NOT VIDEOED FROM C CANNOT BE ACCEPTED FOR JUDGING.
A few regular reminders.
Some simple steps can be followed to help improve your video.
1. Only video in good light.
2. Avoid videoing in artificial light-the quality is invariably too poor to judge.
3. Do not video a dark horse against a dark background.
4. Ensure as much of the horse as possible remains in the frame as much of the time as possible and please do not forget to video the legs and feet!
5. Wear light clothing, white boots/ bandages/ white saddle cloth- it is amazing how much more visible you and your horse are when dressed in pale/ light clothes.
6. Always video from C. Any videos not videoed correctly will be returned for re submission.
7. Always video in a 20x40 m arena unless instructed to do otherwise.
8. Ensure there are always markers (can be cones, buckets etc) where the letters should be if you have had to reduce the size of your arena- and please mark the corners and end of your arena with poles

And finally...I think...please spare a thought for all our wonderful judges who give up a lot of their precious time to help make Interdressage enjoyable and informative. Without them there would be no Interdressage, and similarly, without you, our loyal band of enthusiastic competitors, there would be no Interdressage either!
