She is the President
of The Mother Company, Inc., a holding and management company, with shareholdings
in enterprises in import-export, exhibition and events organizing, processing
and sales of marine products, GIS-solutions for local governance, corporate
finance, and, project packaging.
finished the Maastricht management refresher course in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
She is trained in Directed Retreat Giving by the Center of Ignatian Spirituality
of the Province of the Philippines of the Society of Jesus.
Sabsy
currently is enrolled in a PhD Program in Organizational Development, major
in Asian Spirituality, at the Southeast Asian Inter-disciplinary Institute.
She
holds an undergraduate degree from the Philippine Women's University in AB Psychology
(Magna Cum Laude), a graduate degree from De La Salle University in business
management, and a second graduate degree from the Don Bosco Center of Studies
in religious studies (Magna Cum Laude). She also took post graduate courses
from Galilee College in Kibbutz Mizra in Israel on management and development
of small-businesses and
Isabelita
Sy Palanca, nicknamed Sabsy, is a member of the faculty of the Don Bosco Center
of Studies Masteral Program in Religious Studies, where she teaches lay spirituality.
She likewise does catechesis to outreach communities of National Sandigan Foundation’s
Aksyon Katoliko, i.e. Cradle, a juvenile prison facility in Camp Bagong Diwa.
Sabsy’s
volunteer work with trade and industry support her personal vision and mission
of being a corporate missionary. She is Charter President and Current Chair
of the Women’s Business Council Philippines; co-founder of the Confederation
of Women’s Business Councils in APEC; 1998-2002 Philippine Focal Point
for APEC matters; Program Officer of the launch of Global Compact Initiative
in the Philippines; Founder and CEO of Bridging Gaps Foundation, which initiated
BIZTOURS for the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Commissioner
for Business and Industry of the National Commission on the Role of Filipino
Women (NCRFW); Board Member of the Bishops-Businessmen’s Conference
for Human Development; Charter Board Member of the Mariological Society of
the Philippines; and, first Project Officer of ‘Pondo ng Pinoy in Business’,
a fund-raising project of the Catholic Church.
Sabsy authored for the Bishops Businessmen’s
Conference the “ISQ: Living One’s Values in the Workplace.”
At the heart of the program is the Institutional Spirituality Quotient (ISQ),
which measures the congruence between the institution’s avowed values,
vision, mission and objectives (VVMO), on the one hand, and its policies,
structures and programs (PSP), on the other. ISQ is also a tool in Organizational
Development in the area of values-enhancement.
She is the Convenor
of the Bishops-Businessmen’s Conference - ISQ Movement, which promotes
values, ethics and governance in workplaces.
Sabsy
has been invited to keynote and/or deliver papers before national and international
conferences of trade and industry, UN agencies, as well as academic and religious
fora, on topics like gender mainstreaming, ethics in the workplace, empowerment
of small and medium enterprises, values and spirituality. .
Sabsy is the mother
of two grown up sons, Carlos IV and Carl Anthony. They are both entrepreneurs,
as well, as managers of the family businesses.
