Should you ever be in the market for a special, unique, and/or personalized gift, I have to recommend THE neatest store:
www.bingebox.com/norwalk Click on BASKET CENTRAL to place your custom order.
This is owed by a fellow natural food co-op member and she has a real flare for putting together the nicest gift baskets. The great news is: she uses only the highest quality products! Lotions, coffees, teas, cookies, etc, that are nothing but the best. Be sure to let her know that Tricia sent you!
We allow newlyweds to have their
HONEYMOON,
Let's remember to allow new parents
to have their
BABYMOON
Please give new parents 2-3 weeks
before offering a visit.
New Moms want nothing more than time to gaze into the face of their new baby. Here are some ways you can help (and many will only cost your time):
1. Coordinate a week's worth of meals to be dropped off at the Babymoon home. Be sure to instruct the cooks to simply leave the meal and not insist on seeing / holding the baby. Also, ask the new parents if there are any food allergies that the cooks need to be aware of.
2. If you are a family member / very close friend, offer to come to the house to help with things such as dishes, laundry and scrubbing bathrooms. Again, NOT to hold the baby, that's momma's job.
3. Offer to take the older children some place special for a few hours. This could be a simple trip to the park or McDonald's playland (if it's winter). Maybe to the Dollar Theater... complete with popcorn! If you're really brave and are not prone to headaches... how about Chuck E. Cheese??! Remember that big brothers and sisters are making adjustments and need your friendship and an understanding ear also.
4. When baby reaches 5-6 wks old, offer to stay at the house for an hour or two with all the children (including the new baby) while mom and dad go out for an iced tea or quick bite to eat together. It is important for them to reconnect as a couple. As their friend, you should gently remind them of this.
5. Be available to the mom emotionally as she adjusts to motherhood... whether it is the first baby, or the 8th, there is always need for an ear to bend as she makes the adjustment to another little person in her life.
