Daniel Lee Harper
September 19, 1984---July 20, 2004
**Never forgotten, Always in the heart**

Daniel Lee Harper (Danny) was not an average teenager. Danny was a hero.

Danny was born on September 19, 1984 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Sue to his mothers military status, he moved to Idaho, then to Texas, Ohio, Korea, New Mexico, and then made his final desanation stop in Millbrook, Alabama. During his regular days at High School, he was Diagnosed with APML Leukemia, which he conqoured and went on with his regualr life consisting of Soccer and hanging out with his many friends.

Danny graduated in 2002 form Stanhope Elmore High School. He then went on to major in Criminal Justice at Jacksonville State University. In the summer break between his freshman and sophomore years, he relapsed with cancer. He did Arsnic treatments until December 11, 2003, when he had his Bone Marrow Transplant, with his donor being an anonymous hero.

Daniel was diagnosed with Graph Versus Host disease that Jannuary, but never recovered. He passed away July 20, 2004, at 1:35 PM after a long battle with the disease that had hidden in his lungs. He had a memorial service July 24, 2004, then a short graveside service in Winston Salem, North Carolina, where his ashes remained until August of 2005, when his family decided to bring him back and bury him Millbrook, Alabama.

Danny was a man of many talents, as he loved his accoustic guitar, upgrading his Honda Accord, and even riding on his bike, BMX style. Daniel was a hard working student and an excellent employee, as he worked at the Prattville Prominade Cinema even when he was battling his disease.

The point of this page is not to write a biography about a boy who lived, or to make eulogy like referances. This page is about a boy who lives in the heart of many, and just why he is a hero. Danny did not stop his life during his treatments, but continued on. Even when he was bedbound in the hospital for months at a time, his humor and smile was always shown even in the deepest of his pains. Real heros are not the ones who take the pain, live the pain, or defeat the pain; real heros are the ones who have the pain, but convert it into happiness and joy.

THE GREATEST GIFT
BY DAISY

The greatest gift,
in the end
was a family
and a friend.
an ear to lend,
a hand to hold,
and you my friend--
your heart of gold.
