Insanely Horse Crazy

A Forum-Based RPG

Welcome to Insanely Horse Crazy!

IHC is a forum-based horse community where horse lovers can congregate to raise virtual horses. IHC has something for everyone; not only do you get to create, train, buy, sell, breed, and show your horses, the Job Network allows artists, writers, and web designers who love horses a chance to earn some extra "cash" for gameplay. And if you're not interested in any of those things there are plenty of other options. Well, don't let me drone on, join today and see if this community is for you!

How IHC Began

Insanely Horse Crazy (affectionately known as IHC) began in the early summer of 2003 (I think...) to keep me entertained since I couldn't have a horse. At that time, I had absolutely no knowledge of HTML and depended entirely on Freewebs for my site. I didn't have the money for Premium services, so my site could only have seven pages. But I was sneaky...and I found a way to evade this, which funnily enough, is sometimes used on the site to this day!

When I started IHC, there were only six members (including me). Two of the other members from back then are now my mods! But then, that was all I could handle. I handpainted the horse templates exactly as was ordered, I handled all the transactions of buying food and horses, and I continuously lowered the health points when a horse was ignored, then raised them two hours later when the person bought something for them! Needless to say, the site shut down after a month, if that. I just couldn't handle the maintenance.

About six months later I tried again. I had the same results. Occasionally in the couple of years that followed, I would get the urge to restart the site, but I would discover I didn't have the html knowledge or the resources. So, now I try again. Thank you for being a part of my expirement, and here's to it's success!

However, I'm hoping to soon learn PHP and MySQL and create an interactive site without the mods always having to run back and forth doing things. It would be nice to have the computer do it for them!

The New IHC..and a note about play

This time will be different. I do not plan on shutting the site down, because now I have my mods, and there will be "work days" where we can catch up on our duties. (And if I ever get tired of running the site, I'm sure I could sell it!) And instead of buying twenty brushed to increase your horse's health (which would eventually fall back down...and we would repeat the process again...), you can now buy Beauty points that give you grooming FOREVER!!!!!! YAYSES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways...

IHC is mostly geared towards teens to preteens, although adults are still welcome as long as the site remains family friendly. On that note...I will not permit any sexual references that do not incorporate breeding horses, and if I find any bad posts you will be kindly exterminated from the site. And if I get any evidence that you are some sort of pedofile, or similar, I will log your IP address and send it off to a police friend of mine, who is on the case of tracking you people down and putting you in jail. I am SERIOUS about this (as well as angling to get this friend of mine a pay raise).

But on a different note, about the actual horses...IHC is no replacement for a real horse, and there is nothing like going out and hugging on your favorite stable buddy, but do not judge horse owning by IHC. On IHC, we have taken out the chores (like mucking, feeding, etc..) and are only using the fun stuff. While these chores can be fun if horse owning is truly for you, if you do not have the time to keep your horse healthy, you are better off without one. Wanna know why IHC is here? Because I...who love horses so much I'm made a whole site about them...yes, horse crazy I...decided about a year ago that horse owning was not for me. I do not have the money, and frequently lack the time, to give a horse the kind of life I think it would deserve. And if I can make that choice, so can you. Enjoy having horses on IHC, but realize that at least on IHC if you don't want to visit them for a while or get tired of them, it won't make a horrible mark on a wonderful animal's health or happiness.
