Now that you know the basics I can get into something more interesting. So, the question most people around here get asked is "How did you get into HP?" Well, I shall tell you. It started in 2006 -- no '05 -- no wait, '04. My sister had to read the books for a literature class she was taking, along with several other fantasies that I'm now a fan of (see below). This was in November of 2004 I believe. I asked her what she thought of the HP books and she said that the stories were interesting but the quality of the writing was mediocre. I brushed it aside for a few months.
In March of 2005 -- or somewhere around there -- Sorcerer's Stone was on ABC Family and my sister wanted to watch it since she read the books. We watched it together and I was completely and utterly sucked into the Potterverse from that point on. The next week they showed Chamber of Secrets on TV so I saw the first two movies before reading the books. Now in April some relatives came to visit for Easter. Two of my best friends are cousins, so as you can see, I had a bit of a problem... My cousin spent the night one night and as we were getting into bed I said, "Do you mind?" She put her head under the covers so I could turn on a lamp to read. :D Yes, I stayed up till about 4am reading Goblet of Fire that night after successfully completely the first three books.
July is a month I'll never forget. It's pivotal to my little story. I went to Borders with my sister and a different cousin on July 15 to get my hands on the sixth installment in the series. I have so many good memories from that night... All those HP freaks congregated in one building.... I dressed in a black cape and my cousin dressed as Hermione. My sister thought it would be weird to wear a costume but she suddenly felt completely out of place at the bookstore when she saw that she was one of the very few people that wasn't dressed up. But of course I had a stroke of genius. There was a clown doing face paint in honor of the event and I had her paint the word "Sneak" across her face. Needless to say, she got many compliments for her simple yet clever costume, if you can call it that.
The release of Half-Blood Prince spurred some creativity inside me that before I hadn't even known existed. In August I started writing my own book seven and I finished writing it November, I'd say. Since it was practically the first non-school-related thing I'd ever written it was a poor quality, but I'm proud nevertheless. It ended at over thirty thousand words, a feat I regret to say I find myself incapable nowadays, owing merely to my feeble patience. When I go back and read Harry Potter and the Fortress of Shadow I mostly cringe at my inexpert sentence structure and lack of anything original (besides the whacked out plot), but every once and a while throughout the sixteen chapters I find myself quite surprised at how patient and thought out certain paragraphs or phrases seem to be. When I say patient I simply mean that in my more recent works, everything seems very rushed because I'm anxious to get to some sort of climax, or something interesting in the plot.
Since my first fan fiction story, I got about ten thousand words into one that will never see the light of day, another one that will never see the light of day, a couple of one shots, about ten thousand words into a romance with a sort of weak plot (Death Eaters; does that count as a plot?), and various others. The only work of writing I'm remotely proud of can be found on HPFF under the author name Infairi. I've also tried my hand at original fiction, but the only one that went anywhere was just a bit weird.
Anyway, I may add more in the future... If you have any questions please direct them towards my bio at SAYS, and in the meantime, here are some of the things that interest me:
