July, Aug and Sept 2009
  • NOT much new to report over the summer...after finishing up my 2nd Jensen 51 replica project for a friend, I've taken off a few months from "doing", to enjoy "running" my collection, adding 35 hours to my own Jensen 51 replica for example.  As a result, instead of adding to my collection, I pruned it somewhat of the items I had lost interest in.  I do this 1-2 times a year, clearing a bit of shelf space and freeing up some funds for the next thing that catches my eye.
  • Added a unique style of engine in Sept., a Maier Mechanic Butane engineNOT a steam engine, but every bit as much fun.  It is one cylinder and runs on cig. lighter butane.  Check it out under the "All Other Engines" tab. (video included!)

Oct, Nov and Dec 2009
  • Having just passed the 150th hour of operation of my Jensen 51 replica (51R001) on Oct. 30th, I have completely redone the website tab covering it, with new photos and writeup showing a number of enhancements incorporated into that power plant over the past 12 months.
  • Just added a Birmingham Dribbler by Bassett-Lowke Railways to the "All Other Engines" section.  This is a '70's reproduction of a classic child's toy of the 1800's and represents the first toy steam loco of sorts.
  • Added my first Fleischmann accessory to accompany the first engine I ever owned, my 122/3.  The accessory is the popular "man making sausages".  It is in with the Fleischmann on the "Home Page".
  • Added a Wilesco D45 vertical engine to take the place of an almost identical D455 I'd purchased new in 2005.  Why?  Check it out in the "All Other Engines" section.
  • Updated and added a couple of examples of Jensen Model 15 generators under the "Jensen Steam Engines" section...six varieties are shown.
  • Added a pair of Sutcliffe miniature oil cans to the "All Other Engines" section.  I know they are NOT engines, but they make a nice accompanyment to my British Stuart engines where they look right at home with them on the shelves.
