Northiam

       The charming village of Northiam is set within easy reach of Hastings and is worth visiting just to see the beautiful house of Great Dixter.

       This ancient house, built in the middle of the 15th century, has the largest surviving timber-framed hall in the country. The contents of the house mostly date from the 17th and 18th century. It also has extensive and attractive gardens that have an ever changing variety to complement the different seasons making Great Dixter a really worth while visit.

       This bustling little place also has the lovely church of St. Mary’s dating back from 1090 and housing the Pony and Hand Hearse made for the 1887 Jubilee of Queen Victoria.

       A leisurely stroll around this small but charming village should not be left out when visiting this beautiful part of Sussex.
