In and Around 1066 Country

Bodium

Bodiam, a small village to the northeast of Hastings and a stone’s throw from the borders of Kent, has one of the most interesting attractions in the well known Bodiam Castle.

This famous castle with its many turrets and its entrance with a tower built either side and guarded by a portcullis was first built in around 1386 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge.

The beautifully well preserved castle set within its moat is like a picture straight out of a fairytale book.

The village church of Saint Giles was built in the 12th century and the picturesque local inn, 'The Castle', is conveniently situated right opposite the castle entrance.

This quaint little village of Bodiam is one of Sussex’s treasures and is well worth a visit.
